• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello there.
If we want to continue having a place where all religions may post under one roof we need some rules.
One of the rules is this ...

In order to maintain peace in the CWR forum, debate and discussion are allowed and defined as civil and respectful conversation which seeks to understand or explain another religion and is further explained below:
[*]Mutual respect means that neither Christians nor non-Christians will mock, degrade or belittle each others religious beliefs, or make posts that are disruptive to the peace and harmony of the forum.
[*]Violators will risk receiving forum specific bans.

If we do not like another's religion, fine, but we will not mock, degrade or belittle them.
This is addressed to Christians and non-Christians alike.

If we cannot help ourselves maybe this is not a place for us to post.
Such posters will be banned from this area.

2 Samuel 8.4 (from Septuagint, older than Masoretic text and more accurate, II Kings 8.4)
"And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all his chariot horses, and he reserved to himself a hundred chariots."

1 Chronicles 18.4
"And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots."

Continuing on #4, a Contradiction in quran
"...verily a day in the sight of 'allah' is like a thousand years of your reckoning." sura 22.47
AND
"... in the end will go up to him, on a day, the space whereof will be a thousand years of your reckoning." sura 32.5

BUT
"The angels and the spirit ascend to him in a day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years:" sura 70.4

Study:
1) The same arabic word for day is used in both instances, "yawmin", so there is no doubt as to the term.
2) The same period of time is being addressed, in this case "one day".
3) The audience is the same, in this case 'allah' (the him).
4) contradiction: one day equals a thousand years OR one day equals fifty thousand years
Some may address the "going to him". Whether something ascends or not, the same term and measure of a thousand years is seen in 22.47. So whether something ascends has no bearing.

And this is different from the Bible, how? It is an accepted principle in the interpretation of biblical prophecy that a day represents a year:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day-year_principle

Yet other verses like 2 Peter 3:8 or Psalm 90:4 indicate a day is a thousand years.
