interesting... care to go deeper?
how did you come to this belief?
My grandfather made me aware of this. I have been researching it ever since and continue to find more and more that this analogy is built into the Bible. Here is a little more showing this amazing correspondence that seems to have been purposly written into our glorious Holy Bible. I really appreciate finding someone else to whom this is of interest.
The Sun, the Moon and the Stars.
The heavenly bodies which can be seen in the sky bring us light. The stars bring just a glimmer and a twinkle, the moon reflects a dull pale light and the Sun illuminates the world into full daylight. In the Bible the Sun, Moon and the Stars are used allegorically to represent the three rules of governance in this world.
"Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the Sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night,..." Jer.31;36
Just as the heavenly bodies each shine differing degrees of light unto us, so to do the three laws and ordinances give us different degrees of understanding.
1. The Stars represent the words of the Prophets which brought the Tribes of Israel advice and understanding.
2. The Moon represents the written Law which Moses taught to the Tribes of Israel to prepare them to enter into the Old Testament Covenant. It called for the enforcement of "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Ex.21;24
3. The Sun represents the New Christian Covenant that teaches us to add "compassion and Mercy" to the Law of Justice. This was demonstrated to us when Jesus continued to heal on the Sabbath regardless of the Pharasses negetive reaction. Mt.12;10 Mk.3;2 Lk.6;7 Jn.7;23
The Sun, the Moon and the Stars were all created on the 4th day of Genesis creation. Gen.1;16 But each of them shines a different type of light and represents a different law. They each have their own type of people to whom they appeal. They each have their own flocks to guide. This is what 1 Cor.15;41 means when it says;
"There is one glory of the Sun, and another glory of the Moon, and another glory of the Stars."
"The Sun to rule by day; Moon and Stars to rule by night. Ps.136;8,9
So this explains why in Genesis it ends each day's creation with the awkward phrase "and the evening and the morning were the ...day."
Under the Old Testament Law the night(moon) came before the daytime(sun). They therfore arranged their Old Testament calendar to follow the moon. But under the New Testament's Christian Covenant the Calendar was re-set to follow the Sun.
This was because darkness comes before light just as ignorance comes before understanding. So too for humanity it was nescessary for Mankind who were following Adam and Eve to at first be wrong before they were corrected by the Law. Then after humanity lived for a time under the Law of Justice they were at last ready to understand Jesus who taught them to add "compassion and mercy" to the Law of Justice. This, in my humble opinion is the meaning philosophically of what the Bible has been trying to teach us.
Any and all opinions on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks
