Does anyone watch the Sopranos? I have been watching the series through again on the dvds recently. It is quite simply the best-written show I have ever seen on television.

You get quite a lot out of repeat viewings, and a great deal out of watching an entire season in the course of a few days. The writing is brilliant (often hilarious), the editing usually emphasizes certain plot points the viewer is meant to compare, and the depth and symbolism increase to incredible levels as the years pass.

The sixth season has arguably been the weakest, but there are still eight episodes to go.

*Nobody* watches the Sopranos? On a Christian message board? I'm shocked. :p

Actually, I have seen a book, "The Gospel According to Tony Soprano," written by the head of some church (I can't quite remember), which analyzed the show and its themes, relating them to the Christian worldview.

The series' creator, David Chase, said of the character Carmela Soprano (Tony's wife), "She is the first one on line to go to Hell when she dies" (paraphrased).

It's a complicated show about pride, power, crime, temptation, and the very blackest of human nature.

No fans? You should give it a shot.
