  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I like pretty much everything pre-Mellancholy. I even like a few tracks on that double cd, but they are few and far between. I think I quit liking them when Corgan got full of himself.

Adore has some really pretty songs. I sometimes visit his website, and from what I've read by him, he seems to be a really nice guy...just a control freak. But what great musician wasn't?

No, he's definately a nice guy. He's worked with some great bands, including Sleeping At Last and Blindside. But at the end of the Pumpkins run, in interviews around Chicago (where they're from), there was a whole lot of talk by him about how "important he and Smashing Pumpkins were to alternative music", and all that junk. I mean, true as that may (or may not, depending on your view) be, it's better coming out of someone else's mouth, rather than your own.

Newsflash, he was always full of himself. He tracked and played everything but a few more complicated drum parts on Siamese Dream.

That aside, I think everything but zwan was good.
and zwan was OK at best.

That's probably true. But they didn't get big enough for him to show it until after Siamese Dream.

I don't know about this...I've seen video clips of D'Arcy recording her bass parts for songs off of Melon Collie.

One artist recording most of the instruments isn't anything new...even Hendrix did it. Do we discredit the musician for this? I think it would be very frustrating to be Chamberlain, Iha, or D'Arcy during studio times, but Corgan was the principal songwriter, and sometimes control is needed in order for the final product to turn out top-notch. :)

I've seen video clips of the entire band recording "Siamese Dream." (Some of these clips are on the "Vieuphoria" DVD). The media latched on to Billy's 'control freak' image and blew it out of proportion. Yes, he is controlling but not to the point that he became a one-man band. If you're a big fan, you can hear the influence of each member in the recording.

The most control-freaky thing he did for "Siamese Dream" was re-record D'Arcy's backing vocals. Which I don't blame him for (ever listented to "Daydream" on "Gish"? Ew.)

That aside....I am glad to see so many Pumpkineads in here. I was expecting to get only a few replies, or the inevitable "they suck!" post. Thankfully, that is not the case.

So moving on.......if you've seen "Vieuphoria" or "Greatest Hits," let's talk about that. :)

Since I said siamese dream, melon collie dosnt apply does it??

Since Mellon Collie is after Siamese Dream and more epic in its scope, why would Corgan have let the band members record their parts then if he denied them of it in the past?
