Every age has its own characteristics. Right now we are in an age of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations and a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship, and the servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all.

-A.W. Tozer

How true, eh? In a recent conversation with a bunch of friends, I was shocked to see them complicate the extreme simplicity of the Christ's gospel.

How Simple Is It?

 • God saves sinners.
 • This is not obtained through any efforts of man
 • Man then pursues to know God.

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Cor 11:3)

I find Tozers quote "a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart" particularly noteworthy.

Speaking from my own personal experience, it is amazing how complex our lives become when wander away from simplicity. And once we get caught up in the rat race, or hustle bustle of this world, how difficult it is to concentrate or keep our focus on the the things of heaven.

Todays world has so many fasinating things to offer . More and more each yr. are added to what is already there. I'm not against progress, in a way it brings us many wonderful blessings. But along with progess comes an array of temtations that compete with and distract us in our pursuit of God.

I keep having to remind myself to get gack to the basics and keep life simple. Both in my personal life and in my belief in the Gospel of Christ.

I've observed people allow controversial parts of scripture, that have little if anything to do with salvation, become stumbling blocks to themselves. To the point that their faith in the bible is undermined and they eventually fall away by choosing to abandon their faith in Christ all together.

I'm a firm beliver in keeping both our lives and our faith in the gospel simple. The gospel is really quite simple, but we can make it very complex.

I too have been reminded that I just need to let go of complexities and just trust in Jesus. Jesus says His yoke is easy, yet we continue to take burdens and worries upon us and not trust in the Divine plan of God.

The foundation is steadfast, and will not be moved. :)
