  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Shoulder That I Lean On

This is a poem that I wrote when I was a junior in high-school:

The Shoulder That I Lean On

Before my greatest change
Before I knew life's meaning
I filled my emptiness with everything
Everything minus what I was needing

The emptiness made me wonder
When in a time of need
Besides mama who would I turn to?
Who would help me succeed?

Through time my emptiness was filled
My future became bright and my purpose established
Mama was no longer my one source of help
God's love never vanished

As time passed, mama came close to dying
There was no earthly person to lean on
I looked to God and couldn't stop crying
He heard my prayers and gave me strength

His love is indescribable and His word undeniable
He carries me out of the shadows and shows me a new dawn
He helps me in my times of worry
When in need, God is the shoulder that I lean on
