Because most of shoujo can tend to get a bit icky. We can discuss the less icky ones here. What shoujo manga do you enjoy? Why? Show us some pics and give a synopsis of the story with your ratings. I will start. Since everyone knows and loves Fruits Basket I will choose something different.
Hot Gimmick
Hot Gimmick description:"about a 16 year old girl (Hatsumi) who lives in a apartment where everyone "worships" Tachibana-san, a rich old lady with a son (Ryouki [16]) who is a genius. One day, while going to school, she sees her sister [Akane (14)] on the ground, pale and breathless. She rushes forward to help Akane, and Akane tells her that she might be PREGNANT! What is Hatsumi to do? One event leads to another...." - From the Reigungeisha site.
Presentation - 10/10
This is what got me to pick up the book in the first place! The cover is colorful, stylish and girly in a teenage way. Description is on the back and the story is in action right on page one.
Story - ?/10
I've only the first two volumes. They're lengthly and the story is good so far. The plot thickens alot during vol.2.
Art - 9.5/10
The style is super chic and nearly flawless. Men wished they looked like Azusa and girls wished they looked like Hatsumi. Like a common shoujo, everyone in the book is attractive and has very long legs and arms. The style might be a matter of taste, but the detail and presicion is very much above average.
Extras - unrated
While most manga feature a boring interview and a page of sketches at the end, this one gives more pictures and little notes about certain areas of Japan by the artist. Also included is background information on characters in the story. I was dissapointed at the fact that a dictionary for culture references was not included.
Naughty content - little
While its definitly not hentai, it does throw around the subject of sex with ease. Luckily our main character is innocent/virgin. There are no sex scenes so far.
