  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I find it disgusting how many people here refuse to simply state that nobody should be shooting unarmed people.

I assume that you, right now as you read this, are an unarmed person.

SHOULD YOU BE SHOT RIGHT NOW? Why or why not?

My answer: You should not be shot. You are unarmed.

This isn't rocket science. This isn't mental gymnastics. This is a basic ethical question - is murder wrong? If your answer isn't "Murder is wrong" then you need to seek help.

I could engage on a purely “moral philosophy” level the question of right and wrong, but it upset the moderators the last time I did. Therefore I will have to sidestep that issue.

Yes, murder is wrong.
I agree that unarmed people should not be shot.
Those are fairly trite questions and answers.

The real question is ... WHY ARE UNARMED PEOPLE BEING SHOT?

Choose a specific example and let’s discuss it.
