The Rubberband
The Rubberband snaps against her wrist.
It is only a distraction from the real pain.
She imagines knives and blood,
all surrounded in thick mist.
Welts appear on her arms,
red purple and swollen.
She prays no one will notice,
for fear they will raise the alarm.
It finaly breaks.
the awful final snap echoes in her ears.
She buries her head in her hands,
and is filled with hate.
Franticly she searches,
for life, for love, for anything.
But nothing comes.
and her heart gives a final lurch.
All hope is gone,
She closes her eyes,
says that final prayer,
and dies alone.
