As we all know, prayer is communion with the Almighty God. It also includes giving thanks for what God has done for us, knowing his will, surrendering to his will and apologizing for our faults. In the Bible, we can see that king Davids Psalms were mostly prayers to the Almighty God. He sought Gods will in each situation of his life, surrendered to it, confessed his sins and praised God for what he had done for him. For the brokenhearted, prayer is the outpouring of their hearts in Gods presence. In the Bible we can see 2 examples where such prayers reached heaven and brought immediate answers. Both Hannah and Hagar received immediate answers to their cries. (Gen 21:16, I Sam 1:15). There is another occasion which is mentioned in the Bible, where there was an immediate answer from God. (I Kings 18: 37, 38). There is one instance in the Bible where the prayer was not answered. (I Kings 1:16-19). It is important that our prayers should be according to Gods will, for them to be answered. Many prayers of the modern believers are not answered, perhaps because they were not made according to Gods will. James 1:6, John 15:7 and I John 5:14 instruct us on how on pray according to Gods will and to get answers from him. It is important for us to pray in faith, believing that it will be done and for Gods words to abide in us and in our life. It is about time that we, as modern believers, check up how our prayers are made, whether they are just lip service or a proper communion with God as his word says.
