  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is a particular portion of an Orthodox prayer that has worked more in my life than any other. It is reference to God's constant presence in our lives. Most of you know the phrase, I'm sure: "Who are't everywhere present and fillest all things."

The more I think about this, the more I am moved to change my behavior.

This lone thought has led me on some pretty deep "thought journeys." When I was a Protestor, I used to think about God's ominpresence as God being everywhere. However, now I think of it more in the light of everywhere is in God. (Read the Psalms. "Where shall I go that You are not. If I ascend into heaven You are there. Behold, if I make my bed in sheol, You are there.")

As a teacher in a Christian school, I have the freedom of praying before each class. I've incorperated the ominpresence idea into my prayers.
"Lord, cause us to understand that we live in Your presence. Therefore assist us in our words, our deeds and our thoughts, that we may not sin against You."

Lately my thoughts have turned to the idea that we are God's children, and our very existance occurs in His throne room. The idea of living our life in the very real Kingdom of Heaven at present, does something to how you want to live your life.

Any way, those are my random silly thoughts. LHM.

Peace.

Peter
