Do you believe there were any homosexual marriages in ancient Israel (from birth of Israel during Joshua's time to the exile to Babylon)

I seriously doubt it. There were no doubt homosexuals, but folks back then were a little less bold about brandishing their sin.

No, I do not think that there were sanctioned gay marriages in ancient Israel. I do think that there were probably closeted same-sex couples living in committed relationships. There always have been.

But, what difference does it make?

They were probably killed for it back in the day. :/

Feeling wistful and nostaligic?

OK. I'm kidding...

My point is, what difference does it make to 21st century Christians (or 21st century Jews for that matter) whether there were same-sex marriages in pre-exilic Israel?

Considering the punishment was death, I doubt there were any unions. There were probably couples, and forbidden crushes, and every other matter of romantic coupleship. But no ceremonial unions.

That's like asking if there are penguins in Egypt almost.

tulc(going for coffee, it's the first slow walk of the day) ;)

What? Just because wives were considered the chattel property of their husbands, you think things were different?

;)

(I really should take this thread seriously. But, why?)

I'm reminded here of the Seven Last Words of the Church....
