  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I went to work today and saw my boss with a hampster cage on her desk, she was watching it for a friend. This hampster attacks the glass when you get close to the cage and to show me how mean it was she stuck her finger in the hampster home and it jumped up and began mauling her finger. She didn't think that it was actually going to get a hold of her but it drew blood. Now that's one mean hampster.

We had a dwarf hamster once. It was little and cute and grey. We called him Jaws...

He bit a lot. And he used to stand up on his back legs and attack anyone who put their hand in the cage - with his little paws. He'd hit us. It was funny.

I don't know much about animal behavior, but is that hamster being taken care of properly by its original owner??

It could just be that the owner doesn't interact with the hamster. They may only feed it and clean the cage. Mine have always gotten used to being held just as soon as they were no longer in danger of "hamstercide" from the mother. They are extremely tame. When I put food in the cage, they crawl up into my hand. They're not like dogs or cats, but they do like attention.

They are so funny. Those little guys have no depth perception at all. :D

Buying a hampster is just the luck of the draw. Even with the best owner and training they can still be mean. My bro and I both got our own hampsters once. He never paid his any attention and I gave mine a lot of attention. However my hampster was the one that would attack and his was a gentle little teddy bear.

My hamster is so friendly that I sometime call her Quincy, Queen of Hamster Niceness/Kindness! The first day I got her in I put my hand in, I knew it was wrong. But whenever I get a pet, my knowledge of how to take care of it just flies away! Anyways, she came and sniffed it. Then I offered food from my hand and took it, as much as you poke her bottom, back, side, she won't do anything to you! Maybe shrink back but she won't bite. She won't bite when you wake her up in the middle of the day, except she bit me once hard that made me bleed because I woke her up when I just got her...She's a golden hamster. :D

It's seems that dwarf hamsters are the ones that often bite! My friend has a djungarian hamster, often called a dwarf because of it's size. It has a black stripe along her back, she's a furry-footed hamster! I came up with the name because of her grey fur. She has an arch and is overly aggressive! When my friend got her she did everything that a good owner would do. She fed it (a little to much, the little girls chubby!), groomed it, gave it human interaction, gave it clean water and all! But whenever you put you hand in without a bunch of seeds she'll run to you and grab your finger with her tiny paws and bite. Even if you just put your finger near the cage bars. She'll run to you and stick her small muzzle threw the bars and open her mouth to try and bite you! Maybe if she had boughten 2 dwarf hamsters Pepper wouldn't be like that... :(
