The question on vestments

I'm in search of a good, quality alb, something that feels like a true vestment when you are wearing it. The manufacturers are so vague in their fabric descriptions. I would phone them and ask for fabric samples, but I'm a little short on time.
I'm looking for a fabric that is not too opaque, yet not something that will feel like I'm wearing a blanket in summer. It can't be over the top in cost, either, as my congregation is providing it for me.
I initially liked the homespun, handcrafted feel of flax, but theologically I am having a tough time overcoming the notion of being robed in white by the blood of Christ. Plus, I will be serving multiple congregations where the shade of flax may or may not be a welcome sight.
What are your thoughts, and where did you find an alb of good quality and value?

Vestments? Give me book, chapter and verse that endorses vestments. We'll go from there.
Ok, how about John's camel hair clothing? How about the plethora of white robes? How about the "armor of God"? We aren't talking about endorsing use, but rather particular garments which had significant purpose in biblical times. Today, we see certain pieces of clothing representative of our heritage. It is not a mandate that we wear them, but a liturgical choice (oh, sorry if that word, liturgical, made anyone cringe).

You know, I used to get vestments at the Cokesbury store but now that they are online only it is really hard to see the quality of an item from a picture. I sympathize. I usually wear a pulpit robe but I've thought about an alb myself. If you come across something you like let us know!

Almy makes nice clerical shirts. I have a white tab collar shirt that is nice quality that I believe isn an Almy shirt.
