  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When I look at the Psalms, I immediately think 'Now THERE is poetry,' simply because of the sheer power of emotion. I included my own psalm for fun. :D

Psalm 150

Praise the LORD.

Praise God in his sanctuary;

    praise him in his mighty heavens

Praise him for his acts of power;

    praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

    praise him with the harp and lyre,

praise him with tambourine and dancing

    praise him with the strings and flute,

praise him with the clash of cymbals,

    praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD.

~~~~~
Now for mine!
~~~~~

My heart longs for rest,

My mind yearns for peace.

I kneel before you, my Lord,

Down on bended knee.

I come to you in my pain,

With you my burdans ease.

I rest assured of your grace,

I have naught but praise.

I cry out from the murky depths,

My anguished soul flees to you.

There is but One who can help,

And that One is You.

My sinful heart tries to hide,

But your essence covers everything,

    is in everything, is everything,

I cannot cower from you.

As my life is stripped away,

I feel nothing but shame as

    dirt I tried to hide, to fake,

Is displayed before all eyes.

I bow my head and weep the salty tears,

That long sundered You and I.

I creep once more into Your arms,

And You wash away my fear.

I immediately think 'Now THERE is poetry,' simply because of the sheer power of emotion.

kookoobura...that is a wonderful psalm!

I love the psalms...they have helped me time and time again.
I particulary love david's psalms...he was so honest and open with the Lord. His psalms taught me i can bring anything, before his throne of grace.

Lord you are in the light in between my fingers,
when i shield my eyes from the sun.
Your are in the gentle water that flows into the sea.
All this will pass away but forever you live on.
You are my hope because you are unchanging.
You ever love, You are ever Holy and pure.
The world always changes as the winds switch direction.
But you, Oh Lord, stand astride the ages forever the same, forever our Lord.

Kookaburra,

I pray my children will have such a heart for the Lord so young. At your age praising God was the last thing I was doing.

LUKE 6:45 "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks." (NIV)

What a heart for the Lord you must have! Praise God for it!

In His Service,

Sandy
