People have such a hard time loving each other, I struggle to love some people. It seems people when they think they can get away with it enjoy hurting other people.

Gandhi said i like your Jesus, You Christians are so unlike your Jesus.

The reason few people ever try to be like Jesus is because if you live like Jesus do what Jesus did they will murder you, fact. If the results of the way Jesus lived resulted in persecution, being hated by many, betrayed, beaten, jailed and murdered, why would Christians expect a different result then our king? In fact Jesus said they will say worse things about us, they do worse things to His children. If you would debate that. A man a few months ago in a Muslim country had acid thrown on his face for preaching.

Some Christians have gotten spoiled, they argue about what a homeless man will do with "their money" that"they give". What reward will you have, you should take the time to get to know what the man or woman has needed of, instead you use excuses not to give and then elevate your gift, you treat your money more important than you treat humans. You say i don't want to enable them, are you going to get them help? are you going to take them in? are you going to make them your project to see them off the streets and clean? If no why do you complain aout what they do with your money. Hypocrites. You say you want to help them, but are not willing to do what it takes to help them.

Would any one of you turn your back on yourself, or child, wife, husband, brother or sister, mother or father?

Some people look for a person to say something, give them something so they can attack. The other points might be good points but they pick out that which they can attack. They say I disagree. i am against that. How bout saying what your for, How about Loving your neighbor, and this is loving your neighbor what is important to your neighbor should also being important to you, unless it is not Good, then you should give them some thing better for this is like God. But will you submit, NO! You say that is not Good turn your back while quoting the bible that you say gives you the right to abandon your brother or sister. Hypocrites have you not read Love always endures, always perseveres. 1cor 13 read what Love is.

Am I guilty, Yes, I cut my mother and brother off, i want to hate them but can not. My love has not endure, but God makes me Love they call I answer i turn my back over and over just to come back around, until God said leave them be, and yet when they need I am there, this is not my love. I have not love like this. This is god making me Love. God inside me. So If I answer the call of Love, why can you not. All it takes is to be willing to change. make your will a will to let God change your heart, He will change you, be willing. God ask you do nothing else but be willing, be willing to Love, be willing to change, Be willing to keep the law. Be willing. It is not in our selves to Love God, but God makes us Love him, Why do you think He gave the greatest display of His love for us, His Son, Did we not demand God show Us great Love, did we not want to see how much God loved us, was that not why Adam ate the the forbidden fruit because He did not know How much God loved him, he wanted to see. It was not enough God said He loved us we want proof, isn't that man, always wanting proof, isn't that what we base science on? and still some reject it.

God makes us love Him, You can not put God to the test, But he will make you love Him if you are willing.

That is true with me. i ran for so long sought every desire, and every false God and what God showed me everything I wanted was Him all along, and even more Amazing, he never left me the whole time I was running He was chasing me. I was never alone not once. I been His so long and at such a young age I don't know what its like for Him not to be there. I have No memory before God.

What will it take for us to be of one mind the way Paul prayed for us to be? i have the answer God showed me, LOVE!

If we Love each other, If we make up our mind to love each other before we speak, before we act, If we seek to understand the other person before being understood, (7 habits of highly effective people), If we just Love.

If you feel bad why make another feel bad too, when Love lifts the bad feelings, giving heals us and is good for the soul, loving each other is better.

LOVE. God give me strength i want to Love, I am willing.

I think my fire is quenched.

Some people make it hard and affect your attitude of compassion for helping others.

2 weeks ago I was at a Walmart late at night picking up a few items before my family went out of town. At the register, a young man in a soldier's uniform approached me. He apologized for having to ask, but told me that he had to be back at Ft. Bragg in 6 hours and needed gas money for his father to drive him and get back. I was a little suspicious, but he looked legit and I knew Ft. Bragg was about 5 hours away, so I gave him $40. I even shook his father's hand and thanked them for what the kid did by serving.

$40 is not a lot to some people, but for me right now, it puts a hurt in getting from paycheck to paycheck and can make the difference in a meal or two. In this case, I felt it was something I should do because God had recently provided an answer to my prayers over some financial issues.

The following weekend, Memorial Day weekend, my wife went to Walmart late to pick up some toilet paper. She was approached by a uniformed young man in the parking lot - again asking for gas money. She quickly remembered what I did and told him No - commenting that "her husband" had "helped" him the week before. He was astonished as she retreated into the store. My wife looked out to see him getting into the car and backing out. By her description to me - he was the same young man.

She called me and I told her to find the store manager while I called the police. By the time the police and I got there, he was long gone. The police told me that this happens frequently and that some of these people can produce military ID. They try to catch them and chase them off, but they continue to come back and run a scam.

I am not so much mad as I am disappointed that another person can play on the sentiments of someone like this. In most cases, I like to help those in need, but this makes me wary and distrustful when I am approached. This is likely the last time I will offer cash to anyone. I will be more inclined to have them meet me at the gas pump or a restaurant if someone is hungry. I have done that before and usually the dishonest folks will decline my offer while the truly needy are appreciative.

I still have compassion for people in need, but this type of stuff definitely affects how I respond to it.

But that is the enemies plan if he gives us enough of those people he figures he can get us to stop giving. Stop loving, and make our hearts harden and grow bitter.

You are correct that we should not stop loving and having compassion, but I only advocate discernment and wisdom is determining who truly is in need and how best to meet those needs.

I guess we disagree, Jesus said to give to everyone that ask, now what your wife did was right, she knew it was a scam, I don't think Jesus would fault her, but i also think she would have had a reward in Heaven still even if she gave to him. Maybe she could have said yeah my husband gave to you last week, i hope you use this well and given. Then the man might have been convicted by The Holy Spirit and felt a shame. It is love which changes hearts, not us.

I think we do agree with a slightly different point of view.
Most people would say that I should take revenge if I ever saw this guy again. I however, feel sorry for him, in that he at a reasonably young age is being taught to scam people instead of finding his own way in life. The man in the car with him may have been his dad or another relative that is teaching him this. I would really ask him why he does this and let him know that there is a better path than the one he is on. Sometimes it takes punishment to learn this lesson, as most young people do not take accountability for their actions. I also have a limited amount of resources. If I give it away without wisdom or discernment, then I will not have anything for those who truly need it.

That night that this happened - I offered to meet him at the gas station to fill his tank, but he stated he really just needed cash to fill up on the way and the way back. At that point I should have realized it was a scam, but I gave it anyway. I chalk this up as a lesson I can use and don't really regret what happened. I pray for this kid and family to realize that his actions are hurting others and they are following a path of sadness and regrets.

God will not leave the wicked unpunished, we do not need to punish them and we could get hurt trying. like I said I can't fault your way, but I think there is a better way. If a solider force you to carry His gear for a mile carry it for two, if you are sued in court and your shirt is taken give you coat to.

I think we are being called to a higher standard.

Dear Bluelion. Some time ago, Billy Graham said something which I have treasured ever since: GOD WILL JUDGE US, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL CONVICT US, AND I MUST LOVE. God wants our love, freely given and NO conditions tagged on. Let us always remember: God is Love and God wants loving sons and daughters. Jesus told us in Matthew 22: 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. The second is like it: Love our neighbour as we love ourselves. Jesus also told us: " On these two Commandments hang all our Law and Prophets." We are told on Matthew 7: 7-10: " ask and ye shall receive," then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour: all we know and all we meet, treat them as we would love to be treated.
Keep asking for Love and Joy, then thank God and share it all with people around us. We might stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on Loving and Caring. God will see our loving efforts, and God will Bless us.
The Bible will tell us: " Repent," and " Be Born Again," and we change our selfish and unloving nature gradually into Loving and Caring for our neighbour.
God is Love and God wants loving men and women.
I say this with love, Bluelion. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

There's no question that we now live in a self-centered and self-absorbed
society. I've given a good number of smiles out, only to get frowns in return.
Not saying those people may not be facing some difficulty in their lives. I used to take it very personally.

All I have to do is walk out the door and look at what commercialism and materialism has done to humankind. Homeless people in my area, and a lot of the old and younger generations seem to be all wrapped up in their futures,
their nest eggs, their expensive cars, boats, pets etc.

All that and some of them still look miserable.

Granted, the Salvation army mission down the street is still there. Some people must be giving, which is nice to see.

Thank you Emmy, always a pleasure to read your post. And we agree, and you are right. What i thing it would be if we all made it our mission every day to just keep the 2 equally important Greatest commandments.

I agree, BL! It's a lost world out there. Only the ones who are lost don't seem to either think so, or understand why what they have isn't bringing them total joy and peace.

Ambition and education are highly regarded in the western world. It isn't going to save them, however. Not saying there's anything wrong with a person being educated, or striving to do good with what they've been taught. When the lost become arrogant and self absorbed though...look out!:o

For sure! I totally agree!

I live in a one bedroom apartment. I went to take the recycling out, which is located in the downstairs underground parking garage. I noticed this car which looked something like a Corvette. It was something like a Ceto GTO or something like that. On the license plate it read "Mr.Want". Hehe!

He's not the only Mr. or Ms. Want in the world, that's for sure.

I wasn't concerned or even coveted this man's automobile. I actually just kind of found it amusing someone would put that on their license plate. Although in today's world, nothing much shocks me.

I'm trying to stay focused, but it's not hard to get distracted or sidetracked at times.

We do not love enough. I believe that all that is wrong in this world results from a lack of love (and therefore God). I remember during one sermon the minister asked us to think of the person we dislike the most, you know, the person that we can't stand to be around. Then the minister said we are each that person to someone.

1 John 4:7-21

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Matthew 5:43-48

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I agree, Emmy. There really isn't enough love of the world, between people. Lots of love for things and stuff, which really don't mean much at all. And a lot may hold some love within their "inner circle", choice family members, some friends etc. It looks pretty clear that the majority of society stops loving, when they are looking at people they hardly see, or are out of their inner circle.

I'm with you also that we must strive to become like Lord Jesus. Can we at any time in history point out where humans all loved one another? No. Then again, not everyone over the centuries had been a true believer and follower of Lord Jesus Christ.
