The power of the tongue (Part 1).

• “There are those who speak like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.” (Pro 12:18)

As you can see, the tongue can have a slashing cut:

• “My soul is among lions; I lie among those on fire, the sons of men whose teeth are spears and arrows, and *their tongue a sharp sword*.” (Psa 57:4);
• “who *sharpen their tongue like a sword*, they tread their arrows, even a bitter word,” (Psa 64:3);
• “Behold, they bellow out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, Who hears?” (Psa 59:7).

And the worst is that many people delight in misusing their tongue:

• “Your tongue devises evil, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.” (Psa 52:2-4)

Behold the characteristics of them:

• “A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.” (Pro 25:18)

And the harm of this kind of tongue is a tragedy:

• “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell. For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind. But no one can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” (Jas 3:6-8).

As much as our wrath, may us never do what it was done to Jeremiah:

• “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.” (Jer 20:10).

Let alone let’s allow bad feelings propel us to act like shown below:

• “The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.” (Isa 32:7).

So, have a good day watching out your tongue. It can cut many blessings of your life and, even if you get the forgiveness for misusing your tongue, the scars will stay. That is to say, the things never won’t come back to be as before.
