Dear Daily Message Readers,
READ: Jeremiah 29
Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV) "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
Many years ago in a Moscow theater, matinee idol Alexander Rostovzev was converted while playing the role of Jesus in a sacrilegious play entitled Christ in a Tuxedo. He was supposed to read two verses from the Sermon on the Mount, remove his gown, and cry out, "Give me my tuxedo and top hat!" But as he read the words, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted," he began to tremble. Instead of following the script, he kept reading from Matthew 5, ignoring the coughs, calls, and foot-stamping of his fellow actors.
Finally, recalling a verse he had learned in his childhood in a Russian Orthodox church, he cried, "Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom!" (Luke 23:42). Before the curtain could be lowered, Rostovzev had trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
The Bible is a powerful book! That is exactly what separates the Bible from any other book. It was given by God's inspiration and is His revelation to man (2 Timothy 3:16). On its pages we find everything we need to know to receive salvation and to live for God on a daily basis.
Yet we sometimes "burn-out" in believing God can use it to speak to us and reveal His will to us through its many stories and letters. Then, if we do read the Bible, we simply read it for its literary value and not for the sole purpose it was meant to serve in our lives.
Do you really want to know God? Search for Him "with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). Look in His Word and be quick to do what He says. Don't get sidetracked by interesting statistics and unusual facts. Instead, put your trust in Jesus Christ. Then you'll truly know God. Faith Lesson: The Bible reveals everything we need to know to lead a godly life.
In Christ,
Darin Smith
