Here is a quote from the pope:
"I hope that my profound respect for the great religions and, in particular, for Muslims … has become clear," the pope said. It is Muslims, he said, "who worship the one God and with whom we promote peace, liberty, social justice and moral values for the benefit of all humanity."

So, are muslims now considered Christians? I don't think so?

He is not saying they are Christians, he is acknowledging them as an Abrahamic faith, because they worship the God of Abraham.

Unlike some, the Pope doesn't go out of his way to hate the "other." Christ didn't command us to not respect others because they are not Christians - rather through faith and a charitable attitude to lead them to Christ.

Of course, this is lost on many Christians.

I have to agree. Although I do not believe in papal authority, I don't see how this is a statement of him calling Muslims Christians. As a public figure, his words could be easily misconstrued. (of course, both sides of the coin could be stated, and that there is theology present based on papal statements on the past that were misconstrued.) But as for this thread, It's a moot point!

Yahweh and Allah are not the same God. Muslims do not worship the God of Abraham. Allah and Yahweh have different attributes from one another.

No, Allah does not have the same theological attributes as the Christian and Jewish God. Did you read the link I posted? If they are the same God, why do they manifest themselves in different ways and have different requirements from their believers? If they are the same God, why would Allah command muslims to kill infidels (Jews and Christians)? Is God a house divided?

Islam - Jesus is NOT god

Christianity - Jesus IS God.

They worship a different God, plain and simple, you can't argue with that fact. Jesus is God, and Muslims don't worship Jesus as God, so they don't worship the REAL God, nor do they worship the SAME one as Abraham either.

I see the point your trying to make, and it is true that they reject the Trinity....but so do the Jews, are you going to say, that they also are not an Abrahamic faith?

Once again, Allah is accredited the same theological attributes, as the God of Abraham...example....All Knowing, All Present, All Powerful, etc..

The Jews also reject Paul probably because he said the same thing BCF said.
