Yes ..I understand the principal of the baptism for the dead . What I do not see is a new covenant scriptural reference for building a building and calling it a temple. Baptism by John , Jesus , and Philip was not in a building for God does not dwell in a building built with hands . As far as I am able to determine , the old covenant was about outward observance whereas the new covenant is about inward observance ..thus Jesus said the wind blows where it wills //you hear the sound but do not see from where it comes . Also , that is why women are instructed not to adorn their selves with outward adornments but rather to be adorned with good works . And it discusses also the hidden man . I would hold the same thing with believing men regarding adornment ...In discussing how to be attired ..many feel we should put of our best for God but the Bible says to be clothed in humility . If we , who were created in the image of God are to be clothed in humility , modesty and meekness and the scripture clearly states in numerous places that we are the temple of God ( 1st Corinthians 3:16-17 ) , then why adorn buildings ? Jesus said where two or more are gathered in his name , there He is . It does not matter where nor what it looks like . Without question , the world and self seekers place emphasis on the outward. And are we now like the world ? We esteem the same things ? ...the outward which will be destroyed. I thought we were different .
