The scripture says that all things were created through Him and for Him. Therefore, if my life is focused on anything other than Christ, I have missed the point. my life was created through Him, and for Him. It's therefore futile to pursue anything other than Christ, and I should have the awareness that whatever I may apprehend in this world, He is holding all of it together by the word of His power.
Paul wrote that to live is Christ and to die is gain. To live is Christ because He is the reason we are here, and to die is gain because on the day of our death we will be with Him forever. My faith is a gift; it has been granted onto me that I should believe in Him, and even suffer with Him. He has already given me the key to live out the true purpose of my existence; Himself. I should therefore count all other pursuits as rubbish so that I may gain Christ, knowing this also, that one day, I shall be with Him forever in glory. I should sacrifice the things of this world for Him out of love, also knowing that the eternal reward is far better.
Knowing all of this, and that apart from Him I can do nothing, I should be seeking those things which are above, where Christ is. I have died, and my life is hidden with Christ in God. Whatever I may try to accomplish outside of Christ will be counted as wood, hay and stubble on the Day of His return. He is our life and we will appear with Him in glory. When he asks me what I did for Him, I want to present Him gold and precious jewels. I want to hear more than anything else in my life "Well done, good and faithful servant"
Lord Jesus, help me by Your Spirit, the Spirit of the Father, to put to death the deeds of the body. Help me to lay hold of that for which you laid hold of me. Increase my faith I pray Lord Jesus.
