The official story of the events of 9/11 have come under much scrutiny since that horrendous day.
According to a major Zogby poll, 50% of New Yorker's believe that the government not only had prior knowledge of the attacks, but conciously failed to act.
Another poll was conducted on CNN’s Anderson Cooper program "360". The poll asked “Do you believe there is a US government cover-up surrounding 9/11?.” A huge 90% of respondents said “Yes,” out of around 7,000.
Is there any base to this belief?
Is there any evidence to back up these claims?

A Newsweek article titled 'Bush: We're At War' goes into detail on how top government officials received warning of an iminent attack and acted on that warning.
"NEWSWEEK has learned, a group of top Pentagon officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning(9/11/01), apparently because of security concerns."
An article from Newsmax titled "Condoleezza Rice Warned Sept. 6 About Imminent Terror Attack" documents how Rice was warned by former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart about an iminent attack.
"Five days before Sept. 11, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice was warned that a terrorist attack inside the United States was imminent..."
"I said to her, 'You must move more quickly on homeland security. An attack is going to happen.'
A CBS article from July 26, 2001 titled "Ashcroft Flying High" states that:
"In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term."
Mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco was warned on September 10th by "an airport security man" not to fly to New York the next day.
The list leterally goes on for hundreds of pages regarding prior knowledge, for now, lets take a look at other anomalous evidence regarding the attacks.

Were criminals responsible for the sharp rise in credit card transactions that moved through some computer systems at the WTC shortly before the planes hit the twin towers?
Or was it coincidence that unusually large sums of money, perhaps more than $100 million, were rushed through the computers as the disaster unfolded?"
Another article from the london Independent "Mystery of terror 'insider dealers' states that:
"Share speculators have failed to collect $2.5m (£1.7m) in profits made from the fall in the share price of United Airlines after the 11 September World Trade Centre attacks.
The fact that the money is unclaimed more than a month later has re-awakened investigators' interest in a story dismissed as coincidence.
It may be that investors who were able to predict the share price crash so skilfully are reluctant to be seen profiting from tragedy. But investigators now wonder whether there is a more sinister explanation."
Was this the work of Alqaeda?

America was told that the intelligence community had no idea that jets would be used as weapons, yet drills were taking place on a regular basis before and on the day of 9/11 involving that very thing.
USA today reports that NORAD ran drills of flying jets into the World Trade Center, and even the Pentagon.

"WASHINGTON — In the two years before the Sept. 11 attacks, the North American Aerospace Defense Command conducted exercises simulating what the White House says was unimaginable at the time: hijacked airliners used as weapons to crash into targets and cause mass casualties.
One of the imagined targets was the World Trade Center. In another exercise, jets performed a mock shootdown over the Atlantic Ocean of a jet supposedly laden with chemical poisons headed toward a target in the United States. In a third scenario, the target was the Pentagon"
Other drills, which you can google include "Vigilant Guardian", "Northern Guardian" and "Northern Vigilance"
Many 9/11 investigators point to these drills which were taking place on the day of the attacks as an explination as to why NORAD failed.
The air traffic control was confused on 9/11, saying "Is this real world or an exercise?"
Was this failure by design?
The AP reports:
"Agency planned exercise on Sept. 11 built around a plane crashing into a building"
"WASHINGTON - In what the government describes as a bizarre coincidence, one U.S. intelligence agency was planning an exercise last Sept. 11 in which an errant aircraft would crash into one of its buildings. But the cause wasn't terrorism — it was to be a simulated accident."

Scott Forbes, a senior database administrator for Fiduciary Trust, Inc which was housed within the towers said the following:
"On the weekend of 9/8,9/9 there was a 'power down' condition in WTC tower 2, the south tower. This power down condition meant there was no electrical supply for approx 36hrs from floor 50 up..."
"...The reason given by the WTC for the power down was that cabling in the tower was being upgraded ... Of course without power there were no security cameras, no security locks on doors and many,many 'engineers' coming in and out of the tower."
Forbes comments cannot be confirmed at this time, but they do seem to fit with the other pieces of evidence that has been collected.
One thing that can be absolutely confirmed is the demolition of WTC #7.
WTC #7 collapsed without warning at around 5PM on 9/11. This building was not hit by an airplane and suffered minor fires, which the official story explains as being sparked by falling debris.
Larry Silverstein, who bought the entire WTC complex shortly before 9/11 stated in a PBS documentary titled "America rebuilds" that:
"I remember getting a call from the, er, fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, 'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."
To "pull" a building is demolition lingo for a controlled demolition.
If Silversteins statement is true, then why does FEMA's official report titled "World Trade center building performance study" state that building #7 collapsed due to "Small fires?"
Demolishing a building takes weeks, if not months of preparation. How could precision explosives be placed on a building the size of WTC #7 in a matter of hours?
Why have we not heard of the heroic men who carried out this seemingly impossible feat?
The implications of the story of building #7 are gigantic...
Why does the commission report, or more accurately the "Ommission report" fail to address building #7?

The top FBI investigator into the 9/11 plot had his documents destroyed and investigations stopped at every turn.
The Able danger data mining operation documents were destroyed according to the Pentagon, but apparently this may not be the case, according to Curt Weldon these documents may actually still exist.
Anyone with a head on their shoulders knows that something is not right with the official story.
The "Conspiracy theorist" crowd is apparently growing, as top government officials join our ranks to expose the shadowy elite.
