nyjbarnes said:Remarkably I do. I learned of reading a book called "the infiltrator" a continuation of the T2 series. It was a good book...
But what's your point?
Tachocline said:Do you know who the Luddites were?
Now that you mention it, my stomach is contemplating rebellion.nyjbarnes said:Man philosoft, you said that same thing about one of my posts in another thread....did you eat something that didn't agree with you?
Right now, I'm tired to death of reading the YECs' posts in this thread and drowning in a veritable sea of ego.You are really angry tonight...
I called the author of the quote stupid. I don't think he's a member here.pssst btw, how do you get away with this flaming? I always get in trouble for it...albeit I don't call anyone or their ideas stupid....not to mention twice in a single post.
tsk, tsk, snipe with attitude. You will win more friends with flies... or wait, you can influence honey vinegar...awwee shucks, I guess I shoulda finished high school. What is tha tquote anyhow?Philosoft said:This is the stupidest thing I have heard/seen/encountered in at least the last two hours. This time, bevets, I don't even care if this is a shamelessly mined quote. It's stupid.
God's spoken word says her interpretation of His written word is better than yours.bevets said:
My interpretation is fallible. Please explain why your interpretaton is better.
Bevets has borne false witness in this forum more times than the lot of us can count. Bevets maintains a webpage that is literally an encyclopedic cache of false witness. Bevets has long since used up his goodwill around here.w81minit said:tsk, tsk, snipe with attitude. What do you mean? Did you not read it?What is tha tquote anyhow?
My arguement stands. When you chop it up, it loses some constext. I do fear. I fear that those who could otherwise be saved, are lost as result of believers not standing up for truth.aeroz19 said:Sigh. Well, you know what? I hold no fear for what science will tell me. I trust it because it can be tested and verified and disproven, and it can also give results and further understanding and knowledge, as well as improve the standard of living. I really like science. And if science tells me something, I have no fear that it will challenge what I already might believe, because what I may believe cannot be tested, verified, and disproven.
I have nothing to fear.
Who is to say? I don't think that will happen. This is a very deep question.
You will be surprised to find that over 50% of the atheists and agnostics here are x-Christians.
Geocentrism was debunked. Do you think that any portions of the Bible were debunked as a result?
Whoa, not true, not true, falsehood alert. Hitler was a Christian, he was not a church goer but he never renounced his Catholic faith as far as I know and many speeches he refers to his belief in the Christian God. Heck even the SS regiments had chaplains assigned to them.w81minit said:Hitler killed jew and Christian alike.
Why is it funny? Is my choice in literature amusing to you? Is the source of my understanding of the word you tried to make (though didn't, at least not directly) a point with not worthy?Tachocline said:(And I'm still laughing at the T2 reference from the other guy)
how do you determine what is the truth in the first place though?w81minit said:My arguement stands. When you chop it up, it loses some constext. I do fear. I fear that those who could otherwise be saved, are lost as result of believers not standing up for truth.
I would agree that science cannot tough the supernaturalI love science, I love mathematics, I just put God ahead of them both. I do not believe you can scientifically measure God, nor mathematically calculate his presence. He is that He is.
is your faith the same as the truth though? do you have faith in the right thing? your faith is that your interpretation of the bible is correct, and you will ignore any evidence to the contrary. If we do not defend our faith, it will face persecution and attempted annihilation.
Hitler was a mess. he also claimed to be christian. German soldiers for example had "Gott Mit Uns" on their belt buckles - "God with Us" and Hitler had an obsession with finding objects such as the Lance of Longinus and Holy Grail to give him power.Look at history - Christians (in the past) made the best garden torches. Hitler killed jew and Christian alike. Hilter (it was said) was an evolutionist.
The problem with mentioning people like Hitler and Stalin is that they inappropriately used evolution, they appplied it in areas outside it's remit (Stalin wasn't a Darwinian though, he was a Lamarckian, which is why all his crops failed and people starved) so using these people to criticise evolution is like trying to use the Borgias to criticise catholicism.I am not comparing evolutionists here to Hitler. I am stating history for context where the debate of realativism is concerned and to support that where sin is called sin, the messenger suffers.
Nathan Poe, I respect, you - that is another story.Philosoft said:Easy. It goes by various monikers: vanity, conceit, smugness, narcissism, pride, ego...
According to you and others on this site you can be a Christian and an evolutionist at the same time...so which is it buddy?Tachocline said:Whoa, not true, not true, falsehood alert. I learned the term through reading the book. I didn't tell you when I read the book, so as far as your concerned anywhere from 92' on is fair game.Tachocline said:It's not the literature choice it's that you didn't know the term irrespective of that. I'm quite shocked.
Am I the only one where this question is making no sense at all?nyjbarnes said:According to you and others on this site you can be a Christian and an evolutionist at the same time...so which is it buddy?
