The New Rating System

What do you all feel about it?

Personally, I don't know what to think of it. My only hope is that it doesn't eventually turn into "one-upmanships" or "popularity contests" among CF members.

are you referring to the reputation hack that is now a default feature of up to date versions of vbulletin software ?

it could be worse, by default it comes with the facility to leave negative reputation points and seeing this a christian forum, erwin has cleverly decided to switch that off, thank goodness

Oh, the reputation points are great. Rep points are only between the "repper" and "repee" (and no one else). What I was talking about was the new ability to rate a CF member on a scale from 1 to 10, and then it shows everyone who rated the user. I was concerned that it may prove to be a little embarrassing and hurtful for some members who have not been rated (or get low ratings), and seeing other members get hundreds of ratings.

But, I guess there's nothing much wrong with this, either, as long as it doesn't get abused. I have seen where any user can disable his/her ratings in the control panel.

I've never done anything with my homepage because I never knew I had one! Just today I logged on and there's a link to it. It just "happened"! Guess I better take a few hours and figure some stuff out before I get a bad rating!!

I like the new homepages. The default works great for me, so I won't be messing with mine anytime soon. As far as the rating system is concerned, I don't really care either way. Some people really seem to think it's great, and some hate it. I think you can turn it off if you don't like it.
