[SIZE=-1]I went to this movie with a grumpy mood, expecting a bad movie, that had a good theme, that could perhaps bridge the gap that was forming between me and God, over some bad situations and circumstances that had happened in my life, lately. Frankly speaking, I was expecting a rather boring and dull film, that would somehow put me to sleep, after reading through the number of negative movie ratings for this movie.
The saying, one man's meat is another man's poison is true. What was poisonous to the reviewers, what was boring to them, what put them to sleep while watching the movie, moved me to tears. I was enticed, drawn in and captivated by the movie.
I love the way in which Mary was portrayed in the movie, very much. She was no holy angel, as Christians nowadays loved to portray her to be. No, she was an ordinary young lady, like myself, with very ordinary kind of struggles. She did not like the man, Joseph, that she was forced to marry, and in the earlier scene, it appeared that she even seemed to have another guy she would much have preferred to marry, rather than Joseph.
But along the way, she discovered that this guy might be dull, and unattractive, unable to offer her the fun and enjoyment that other guys might possibly give to her. Yet, he was one worthy and reliable guy who was willing to sacrifice his own food for his donkey. He was just the right father, just the right guy for the baby in her womb, which Mary was privileged to be chosen to carry.
A righteous man, a God-fearing man, the right husband for Mary. What other people will trash as not being of any worth to watch, I will give an A+. I thoroughly enjoy the movie, and I encounter God in the process of watching it. Suddenly, I feel that it is all right for me to argue and quarrel with God, because the kind of people God uses are never perfect people. They are imperfect people who He uses to touch the world.
I have many more things I like about this movie that I will have to keep for myself. But go and watch the movie if you have not, and especially so, if you are a Christian. Do not let the critics' words affect you. See the movie for yourself. If you like it, good, share it with your loved ones. If you do not like it, it is all right. You spend a hour and forty minutes, remembering the birth of Jesus.
