Why would this experiment be embarrassing to anyone.
But I can't. On a flat Earth I should.
Why don’t you explain.Maybe if you actually read the page properly and understood it, you'd know.
I would imagine it has something to do with perspective.
Why don’t you explain.
I'll just copy and paste since I want to see if you understand it from that:
"The result was negative, in that Michelson and Morley found no significant difference between the speed of light in the direction of movement through the presumed aether, and the speed at right angles. This result is generally considered to be the first strong evidence against some aether theories, as well as initiating a line of research that eventually led to special relativity, which rules out motion against an aether. Of this experiment, Albert Einstein wrote, "If the Michelson–Morley experiment had not brought us into serious embarrassment, no one would have regarded the relativity theory as a (halfway) redemption.": 219 "
So what caused this serious embarrassment.
Einstein believed in the aether? The answer is the paragraph I copy and pasted. It's in the very first sentence even.
What optics are you using.Nope. On a flat Earth, perspective would have nothing to do with.
I am at sea level. The Isle of Man is 48 metres above sea level. On a flat Earth, I should have absolutely zero problems seeing it. But I cannot, hence, the Earth is not flat.
What is it that the special relativity provides a (partial) remedy for in this case, do tell.

I understand that but don't people think odd things of every subject imaginable?Because it’s really ODD for people to think the earth is flat in this day and age.

I just don't understand why this is such a hot topic?

This is 15km with a 100x zoom. I doubt you can see that far with the naked eye.My own eyes. If the Earth was flat, I should have no need to use any optics apart from my own eyes see the Isle of Man at 70 miles away from me, since the horizon would not exist at 3 miles distant. Such a thing would not exist on a flat Earth, only a globe Earth.
Thanks.Because it just absolutely flies in the face of what we know about the Earth, what we've studied of the Earth and also what we've known for centuries.
Because they seem to want to make this an issue of the Bible, even though it is something that really has no bearing on salvation through accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Because they want to make it a hot topic.

Thanks.
I mean, personally, I don't care one way or the other. Someone's viewpoint has no bearing on my life, whatsoever, but I wanted to know if I was missing something about why so many people passionately engage in this specific topic.
The second point you make makes sense and, really, is such a shame. There are bigger issues in the world but I appreciate we all need distraction and entertainment.
I hope you all figure it out! I don't want to fall off the Earth on vacation because we got it wrong!
