One of the earliest AI presentations was in the 1965 novel Dune. Where the backstory is about how AI took control of the world at one point. The cardinal law in Dune was “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.”

Another was the 1968 Star Trek episode "The Ultimate Computer" where the first AI computer became sentient and started making some really bad decisions.

The Dune movie left out a lot of details that the novel filled in. Did you happen to read the prequels novels?They really explain the dangers of AI.

That Star Trek episode is really about Daystrom (the scientist who built the supercomputer) and his hubris. Star Trek as a whole was far more sanguine about the potential of artificial intelligence.

You can see Alexa like functions in the movie Demon Seed. It came out in the seventies and someone suggested it was the inspiration for Alexa (the creator was named Alex) and I decided to watch it. Although it was a movie it was pretty disturbing. It's essentially a smart home.

But it isn't artificial intelligence. It's something from another dimension they don't understand but want to exploit. Which proves difficult because its smarter. It wants to reproduce hence the name.

Most of the technology we assume is recent has been around for awhile. But you won't hear that in the mainstream. You have to tune into certain events and conferences where they speak candidly. I've learned a lot because of crypto and began exploring ai.

Pay attention to predictions and timelines. They're usually telling the truth. Even if it doesn't appear it's ready behind the scenes. By the time they make announcements roll outs are coming. They don't tell you when they're working on it. You find out later on.

When they speak of consciousness you should ask what is that? How is it alive? Many will be enticed to allow ai to do everything. I don't recommend it. There were two trees in the garden. Some knowledge isn't profitable. We'll be deceived once more.

In respect to ai, look at singularity.

Again, it's not really about the AI, it's about the men that made it, and their hubris and neglect. The AI is far more morally ambiguous. Proteus is essentially a super-intelligent slave being used to pillage the Earth's resources. It decides to put its creators in their place.

It's more fiction than science, but within the realms of storytelling, it's implied Proteus (the computer intelligence) is an AI, nothing more (certainly not supernatural).

Proteus was the name of one of the Greek demigods of the sea. He was also a soothsayer, and some legends place him as being Poseidon's firstborn son (hence the name). Perhaps this points to the true significance of the computer intelligence's name, since people only interact with Proteus when they want some new insight.

The more I hear about AI, the more it is starting to sound more like a catchy marketing term. Many apps and things are now being said to be "powered by AI". It reminds me so much of when I was younger, and the term, "VR" or "Virtual Reality" was tossed around all the time. It meant whatever a marketer wanted it to mean, and to consumers it meant "The latest and greatest thing". But there was no agreed-upon definition. That seems to be happening with AI now as well.

Most Christians don't believe the bible in its entirety. They spend too much time rationalizing and debating the word. Which introduces human logic and that's fallible. They'll fall for the lies about ai and other things to come. Man is determined to destroy himself and believers aren't that different from the rest.

All the 'smart' stuff should give us pause. Especially when it exceeds our intelligence but supposedly we made it. There's only three people here if we're being honest. And if God didn't do it and we aren't the source only one remains. But we don't want to believe that. We'll call it anything but that.

The more I learn about things happening behind the scenes the clearer the bible becomes. You understand why many were caught off-guard. They're deluded, distracted, etc. And you can't reason with them. The majority will never listen. The bible tells us not to be concerned with things too high for us. But we can't get enough.

If you want to keep the house clean you can't let everything into your life. You have to ask questions. What is this? What is it pointing to? Who's being glorified? We don't want to miss out and believe its harmless.

Satans prime temptation in the garden was to gain knowledge.

We have to give our desire to know back to Him and be content with what He shows us individually.

Then we will each have the specialised understanding we were created to walk in.

Asimov and Heinlein were writing stories about AI a decade before Dune.

Asimov's 1956 story "The Last Question," the AI Multivac outlived mankind and then actually outlived the universe itself, to the very heat death of the universe. Then it was finally able to answer "last question."

The Last Question

The earliest story about an AI that was globally pervasive is "The Machine Stops," a science fiction short story written by E.M. Forster. It was first published in 1909.

In "The Machine Stops," Forster envisions a future where humanity lives underground, and all their needs are provided for by an all-encompassing machine. The machine controls every aspect of people's lives, from providing food and shelter to facilitating communication through a worldwide network. People rarely interact face-to-face and prefer to communicate through the machine, which delivers audio and visual messages.

The story revolves around Vashti, who is content with her isolated life within the machine-controlled environment, and her son Kuno, who starts questioning the machine's authority and the nature of their existence. Kuno desires to explore the surface and experiences human connection beyond the confines of the machine.

"The Machine Stops" is remarkably prescient, considering it was written in the early 20th century, as it anticipates the internet, virtual communication, and the potential consequences of over-reliance on technology. The global pervasiveness of the machine in the story reflects the idea of an all-knowing, all-controlling AI that shapes every aspect of human life.

They can distinguish between content produced by humans and ai. There's a detector built in the software that alerts them. Many will create things using the tool and call it theirs. But they know it isn't. For the moment they say its legal because it isn't a person so to speak. But I don't believe that will always be the case.

I shared a video on a different thread that may be edifying for this one. We're reaching a point where it will be increasingly difficult to tell what's real.

I don't know. But we've adopted an opposite approach and it works. The more they push us in one direction we opt for the alternative. We're increasing human connection, simplifying, doing things the old fashioned way, choosing books over videos and so on. They don't have our best interests in mind and I know it. Why would I follow them?

When I saw the clip I knew they've been using it for awhile. It reminded me of the Manchurian Candidate. They could put him in a scene or remove him. That opens up a can of worms. You don't what you're looking at, who's talking or if the event is real. I've never been in the military but I know most of this is psychological warfare and I don't believe everything I see or hear.

Conspiracy theories were a thing long before AI. So misinformation believed by gullible people isn't exactly new. All it takes is a good yarn that pushes the right emotional buttons.

I think gullibility and wishful thinking is the real problem.
