  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The 'music of the spheres'?

I'm bringing this up in reference to the Platonist and Neoplatonist claims of being able to hear or see the 'music of the spheres' - ie. the influences exerted by them. From what I understand, as people come increasingly in tune with the laws of the universe they come in contact with this as a function of clairvoyance.

Has anyone else here done research and come to an opinion?

Clairvoyance isn't real is it.
Around here I suppose it would be vogue to say that its demons looking for ways to influence impressionable people into believing they have powers. For as much as I've seen though and for as much as I've read on those who either naturally had it or were 'initiated' or even back in my wayward days of talking to mediums - it would take a huge leap of faith to go atheist and claim that it isn't real. Could just by my own credulity though.

I have read in scientific articles that the planets do actually make a noise like musical notes which bounce off one planet to another, and they can be detected somehow. But I don't know.

Psalm 19:1
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

yeah. I always got a kick out of Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians as well about all the different glories - the glories of the planets, the glory of the sun, the glory of the stars, all stars having a different glory. In a funny way it almost reads as if he's subtly disclosing that the stars might be other suns.

If by clairvoyance you mean talking to dead people, I would think it makes more sense to think that the medium is either deceiving themselves, deceiving others, or just doing it for entertainment.

I have no idea what mystics and 'clairvoyants' have done with the idea, but originally, the idea was that the planets were in some sort of celestial harmony. Not exactly in the musical sense, but more that all the orbits and periods of the planets were in some sort of mathematical proportion.
