  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You're not going to get many comments because christians seem to hate it.
Yeah, I didn't realise there was another thread. I want to either merge it or delete my thread. Not sure how to do both.
From the other thread, there wasn't much either, that's okay, just after a general commentary anyway.

If you want to do those things you can PM a mod who works in this forum. :)

For the record, I didn't mind "Saved". I mean, it was corny in parts, but it's not the worst movie I've seen. :)

heh...it must be offensive to everyone...one of my gay friends saw it and was offended by it...i don't know why, i haven't seen it lol
That's a shame he found it offensive, because it actually has a message for christians to be more tolerant of other people especially gays.

Ok I didn't watch the whole thing, but let me explain why I dispise it. The girl in the beginning sees "Jesus" underwater and she says that He wants her to have sex with her guy to make him feel closer to God (or something like that). There were other things I can't remember about them making fun of Christianity, but what really ticked me off was when they were in a "church service" and this girl was making fun of speaking in tongues. Making fun of the Holy Spirit speaking through us. I walked out of the room very disturbed and upset.

No one should make fun of Jesus.

It wasn't that great of a movie, but it did a great job of exposing much that is wrong with pop-Christianity. I felt that it was a movie most Christians should see. But then I realized that most wouldn't get the point anyway. From the feedback on various boards, I was right.

As for the girl seeing Jesus underwater, similar visions have endebted many churches into building mortgages they never could afford. Everyday someone justifies adultry the same way. Many Christians have hated people because of unbiblical visions and even gone to war because of them.

Just look at the consequences of her "vision." Yet in the end God redeems the whole mess--just like in the real world. I still maintain that every Christian should see it with the perspective of allowing it to expose the hypocrisy in their own lives.
