Considering that the moon and the Earth are inextricably linked together, I am pretty sure that this passage of Scripture doesn't apply here.

Curiosity about God's creation is one good reason to get out there and uncover the mysteries of the universe

in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. Genesis 22:17

The general mandate to go forth and multiply is affirmed in the promise given to Abraham. But we now know there are trillions of stars out there. You could not fit this many people on a single planet.

The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Why not Mars as a safe haven for the church in a more gloomy future

Did not Jesus ascend to heaven give Israel a vision of a ladder that reached to the heavens, and take Elijah up to himself in a fiery chariot? Did Paul not go into the Third Heaven? This is not something prohibited, however exclusive the privilege has been. The connection between down here and up there and somehow beyond that into the spiritual realm seems biblically clear.

The highest heavens do indeed belong to the Lord but so also the Earth. Jesus came down and he is the only rightful King of Kings of this planet and every other. Where He has gone can we not follow even while we await his return? It is already a mystery how the second coming will be experienced by believers on different sides of the spherical orb of our planet. Given that mystery, it is only a matter of scale to imagine a space-faring civilization spread across the galaxy awaiting the return of the King.

China are not exactly nice guys when it comes to their ambitions however diplomatically they phrase things.

Putin's attempt to take out Ukraine's communications is confounded by the invulnerability of Star Link to that endeavor. Putin is Russian so of course he wants a space program he just cannot afford one on the scale of China or the USA and he has not developed the technological infrastructure for a commercial space industry comparable to Space X or Blue Origin.

The Ukraine war is not a case study of what a conflict with the USA or NATO would look like. The war of attrition has to do with the impossibility of concentrating enough force to make a breakthrough before having that annihilated. With space and air supremacy, this war would have been over in weeks.

So excited about this commitment to Mars from the president who created Space Force, who gave Musk a job in his cabinet, and who has the owner of Blue Origin at his inauguration also.

The world has been holding its breath for more than five decades since the Apollo missions, but now finally the race is on for the next big one.

Yet another colossal waste of wealth and resources by mankind for his own self-aggrandizement - while starvation surrounds us - even in America.

A few questions... after considering all of the ramifications involved, who exactly is going to volunteer to be the first inhabitants of Mars? Or the Moon for that matter? Do we really enjoy living in a bubble now, devoid of anything - ya know - green?

Or how about, then, traveling to that ultimate fantasy - the next actual "inhabitable" planet light years away? Who is going to volunteer to be the Adam and Eve who spend the rest of their lives in a space capsule - just so they can procreate children who will live their entire existence confined in there - just to procreate over and over until their eventual progeny can finally emerge and screw up another planet and each other through inherited sin and death.

As Solomon says, "All is vanity, a chasing after the wind!" and "there is nothing new under the sun."

Why not seek a better country? An everlasting one?

Doesn't really matter. God has destined that the present heavens and earth will be destroyed.

Unrepentant man's aspirations for and clinging to this temporal life - worshipping the creation rather than the Creator - is going to be met with bitter disappointment... and horror.

2 Peter 3:10-14 NIV
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare."
