There is currently a trend in the "Creation and Evolution" forum to make it more creationist-friendly, so therefore I dedicate this my post #1000 to invite all creationists in the "Origins Theology" forum to at least try to post in the C&E forum - just remember that some of natives there may require that you exhibit some adaptation to the environment.

As both of us are well aware, there is enough disagreement here among declared Christians re these issues to give the non-believers on the C&E forum some juicy targets. (perhaps thee and me)...

Yes, you may be right here, but actually some of the non-Christians do know how to behave, and I suppose you'll agree with me that some Christians might need a minor lesson in not to be too evangelizing and no to call Darwin insane and all that.

Agreed, that to call Darwin insane does nothing but antagonize his protagonists.

But must take issue with the idea of Cristians being "...too evangelizing..."

"And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.... that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." (1 Cor. 2:1,2,5; NKJV).

Of course it was Paul, a very learned man, who penned that.

You guys would have to get some new material, you have no interest in Darwinism which is absurd when defending modern evolutionary biology. You have no interest in paleontology, which is ridiculas considering the importance of the fossil record. I have yet to see a coherent argument for mutations + natural selection resulting in anything other then disease and disorder. I have yet to see a single creationist treated as anything other then an intruder and what is more, there is virtually no real science to be learned from the satirical rants the forum is famous for.

The reason creationists shun that board is the same reason they shun Darwinism. The red in tooth and claw mentality of evolutionary apologists is identical to the rancid predatory instincts of neodarwinism at large.

I'ts no fun when you can't make sport of religious conviction is it? That's the whole point and that is why creationists have shunned that forum for the most part.

Have a nice day :)

I've been there Freez and it requires a lot more than 'some' adaptation. That in and of itself isn't the primary problem, the main problem is that their minds are like stone, they won't absorb anything, but they're not afraid to turn around and smack you with it whenever they get the chance. ;)

Indeed... and none of which contradict the verses quoted, which had to do with evangelism, and what followed referred to Believers.

Well, let's have a look:

1 Corinthians 2
1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

What paul is penning about here is about faith, and that it might rest on God's power, not on the wisdom of men.

Certainly you do not need to accept the theory of evolution to be saved, but in return, why should you loose your salvation, if you accepted it? Many Christians have problems reconciling a specific interpretation of Genesis 1 with the theory of evolution. Why not help solve those problems? Can no Christian study biology or astronomy these days? Our faith should be a help in our lives, not a hindrance!

I truly have faith in that the power of God can make it possible for Christians to come to accept the theory of evolution :)

vossler, I have noticed your posts there, and I'll say you're doing good

In a post you mentioned a problem that many creationists have, they are more familiar with the Bible than with scientific results, and of course, many of the evolutionists are students of science.

I am no natural scientist myself, but that's no excuse for not thinking and reading, I would say! Of couse, you'll have to do your homework, and what's wrong with that. TheBear suggested that he and you do a formal debate, just the two of you, why not go along with the offer?

Hey I like to think and read as much as I can. Exercising the brain is just as important as exercising the body.

Your the second person that recommended I go ahead and debate him. The thing is one should only debate in a subject that one is well-versed in, science most certainly isn't that subject for me. Besides, I just went and read the debate between Aron-Ra and Mark Kennedy from a year ago and I'm still queasy. Wow, that was amazing and should give anyone pause to consider just what one is getting into.

I appreciate the confidence in thinking that I can hang in a debate setting, but I think I'll pass.

Ok, it's of course only you who can make the decision :)

But i do appreciate that you have taken the time to at least have a look at the forum, many others don't even dare that.

Who suggested that "...you lose your salvation..." by accepting the theory of evolution? Not I.

On the other hand, the percentages of those who adhere to said theory who then put their faith in the finished work of Calvary's cross for their salvation is minute compared to those who don't adhere to it.

Do you have the numbers for that WAB? If I recall properly there was a Gallup poll that said more than 30% of Americans believe in TEism or a variant of it. Granted, not all of them might be really Christian, but it is a significant proportion to begin with.

Ok, excuses, if I gave the impression that you, WAB, should have come with that suggestion. I was not referring to any particular person, just to the fact that I on the Internet occasionally com across the claim that accepting the theory of evolution implies loosing your salvation.

No doubt. However, I happen to be of the settled persuasion that if one is a genuine Christian, i.e. born-again/anew, there is no possibility of that one losing his/her salvation.

As Romans 6:23 puts it... "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

And then Romans 11:29... "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." (both from NKJV)

The problem is that many who need to put their trust in the finished work of Calvary's cross for their salvation will not if they are persuaded that the straightforward declarations of God's Word are really not straightforward, but have to be filtered through an evolutionists seive.

Ok, I see your point ... I think :) And my own opinion is that matters of faith and matters of science are not the same and should be mingled with extreme care, if at all.

Thanks for your clarification.
