THE MATRIX series

My brother gave me The Ultimate Matrix Collection DVD set for Christmas. I have seen the first Matrix film, but not the two sequels.

Are the two sequels good enough for me to keep the DVD set, or should I exchange it at the store and get what I want?

First off, movies 2 and 3 were supposed to be one movie. It seems that movie 1 and 2&3 are two separate movies. 1 and 2&3 vary widely. There is also the bit with the orgy in #2 and nudity in #3 that bothered me a little. The trilogy gets weirder as it goes along. Neo becomes this god-like person in the eyes of the people. Neo has some weird powers. #3 has an ambigious ending, and plotholes abound. IMHO, the plot was just too complicated for the creators to really put down in film.

The second is good, great at times especially the freeway chase scene.....the third didn't really do much for me, they wrapped the series up but I didn't care for it very much.

They are nothing like the first one. 2 and 3 are mostly good for special effects and not plotline or acting.

Orgy in 2 and nudity in 3? I must not have been paying attention...

But ya, 2 and 3 were a lot weaker than the first. I'd suggest watching them from the video store or something simply to get the storyline wrapped up.

There's no orgy in number two, but there is a lsex scene between Neo and Trinity- it's not vulgar but it's there none the less.


I think they're good. Want some good fighting? Watch 1. Want a good story? Watch 2. Want special effects? Watch 3. I think the story was fine, I really liked it.

if everyone would actually pay attention to the philosophical commentaries, we would
1) understand the trilogy as a whole
2) understand the ending of number 3.

by the way: what happens at the end of 3 is simple: Neo and Smith are exact opposites. so what happens when opposites are in the same space? they cancel each other out. Neo died, Smith got deleted, causing the Matrix to reboot. there's a little more detail on the commentary, and on the "Roots of The Matrix" disc.

I have seen movie 1 and I thought it was awesome! Never did get to see 2 or 3, but if you want some good solid facts on the cleanlieness of the movie go to www.kids-in-mind.com or www.screenit.com

They both will give you a good idea of what the movie is all about.

Matrix Reloaded is the worst part of the Matrix trilogy, mainly because of the horrible acting and dialogue. The long, drawn out action scenes did not help this movie. I was expecting greatness, and all I got was trash.

When it comes to movies like The Matrix, I think that quality of acting should be the least of everyone's concerns. I was so caught up in the story that I could barely notice any bad acting (or orgies and nudity as someone else mentioned).

I own the Trilogy, as well as Animatrix AND the video game, which provides even further insight to the movie.

I'd say "keep it".

I definitely say keep it. The first one is the best. But two and three are good movies. The whole series has a godd plot, maybe not the best actors in the world, but they did good with their parts. But you should definitely keep it, and if you don't want to you can send it to me...lol

I thought the plot drifted into utter absurdity in the second 2 films. They tried to make it into a profoundly philosophical work, and it fell flat on its face. The first movie was brilliant, however.
