  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Last night I was watching Pastor Joseph Prince just before retiring for the evening and he said something (don't recall the exact words) that really got my attention and finally the light came on!

When we are "Born Again" or "Saved", it is said that we then have the Spirit of Christ living in us and it's at that point when we begin to live our lives for Christ and make many, many changes as we grow.

Wait a minute! If I have the Spirit of Christ in me, His faith never wavers in any way... therefore my faith never wavers because His spirit is in me! WOW! That hit me like a ton of bricks out of the blue and I finally got it?

Living as a Christian is going to be so much easier now for me because of this realization and I cannot express in words what this had done for my faith in the Lord. Thank you Jesus for finally opening my heart and my mind so that I can lead a fuller & happier life!

Praise God!!!

Praise the Lord Bo!

See what happens when you put your trust in the Lord? He does open your heart and your mind to His word and His power and grace.

This made me think of many years ago when my step son came to live with us. He is super smart but has to have everything proved to him so he wasn't sure about the bible. So we gave him Hal Lindsey's book Late Great Planet Earth. Even though I no longer subscribe to Hal's view of future prophecy, at the time I didn't know any better, but my step son stayed up ALL night reading that book, referencing the bible, going back and forth and he left us a note when we woke up in bold large letters it said " IT'S TRUE!"
So clearly the light had come on for him at that time. The next Sunday we were at church and they gave an alter call and he jumped out of his seat and leaped up there and later told us he didn't have any intention of doing that and even surprised himself.
Today though I wouldn't say he is an unbeliever but he isn't an on fire christian either, but his wife is so God clearly had and has his hand on him and so I get it when you say "the light came on!"

Oh, I mean to tell ya... it was like someone flipped a switch and all of a sudden I got it! I mean, I always believed before even though I've struggled with understanding the Bible at times but, when that light came on in my head... it was like a new day began and I'm still running around the hacienda with a big smile on my face!!! :D

Well, I was hung up on the fact in my mind that I wasn't good enough to be worthy of being a Christian and going to Heaven when I die but, with looking at things from a different perspective since the other night, I finally realized (when the light came on) that I'm never going to be good enough to get into Heaven in my mind and it's God who says we will enter when we become "Born Again" and believe and I BELIEVE!!!

I don't know why I couldn't get past that until the other night listening to Pastor Prince???

Lone Wolke, Have you ever read the near death experiences? I know there have been a few Christian books out there. But I'm talking reading a a book that summarizes the experiences people have had.

No, I haven't read any of those books simply because I don't believe in those stories. My reason for this is, I've been pronounced dead twice in my lifetime and I never experienced anything on both occasions like people claim in those books and movies?

So...just because you didn't have an experience that you can remember, you don't think anyone else can? just curious. I think you should read Heaven is for real by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. It's about a 5 year old little boy. There is no way it is a made up story. It's an easy read, you could read it in an afternoon easy, but it might change your mind, just sayin'

I'm still waiting on the first book you suggested as a good read? I got an email Friday saying Amazon shipped it so, hopefully it will be here soon? So, you sound like you believe perhaps I DID have experiences and I just don't remember them? I guess that's possible but...?

In October 2011, I had two heart caths done in less than a month because my cardiac team believed that one of my stents had collapsed from the first heart cath so, they needed to do the second cath to confirm and they were correct, one of the stents had collapsed.

During that second heart cath, I remember my defibrillator going off and I heard someone scream and ask what had just happened? Now keep in mind that I'm under anesthesia and out like a light! I came out of that anesthesia and told them my defibrillator had just gone off and I had felt it? I cannot say how much time went by between that event and then my hearing my personal cardiologist repeating; "Come back to us Bo, come back to us Bo" and I woke up a few hours later in CICU recovering.

When I asked my cardiologist later that evening when he came by to check on me if anything had gone wrong in surgery or anything bad happen, he stated that all went well and not to worry. I knew he was not being honest because of what I had heard and the fact that I had two burns, one on my back & one on my left side from the defibrillator pads they use in cardiac surgery just in case things go south so... would you call that an experience or just a memory from what took place???

Both :D But it doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is there IS life after death so to speak. Maybe you weren't "gone" long enough to experience behind the veil, but doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.
But thankfully, we don't need to depend on experiences like that because we already know there is more than just this life. I've heard some NDE's that people describe seeing Jesus or Heaven and they weren't even believer's before...but afterward? Lifechange. God can use whatever He wants whether it be NDE's or whatever. He usually doesn't but I will not say those people are ALL lying. Some maybe, but definitely not all.
