  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Even with a clean sweep of the White House, including both Houses of Congress and a Supreme Court firmly committed to the rule of law, will a Trump victory make any real difference in the end if the Democrats refuse to go along with the results?

We won! Yes, we won! A thousand points! Couldn’t you just die laughing? We came in first! We get to take the tank home! We won!

—Last lines from Life Is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni

Not since the heady days of George McGovern, whose capture of the Democratic Party in 1972 ended in utter ignominy with the Nixon landslide, have two political parties been as deeply and bitterly divided as they were in this latest election, which ended on a clear if unexpected note of triumph for Donald J. Trump. Breaching the Blue Wall by the early hours of November 6 and then smashing his way to a complete conquest of the popular vote, a free and fair election has thus catapulted him to become the next president of the United States.

What an astonishment it proved to be. My wife and I went to bed the night before glumly aware that only bad news would greet us the following day. But like the little boy in that magical movie who, thanks to a father’s sacrificial love, gets to take the tank home, we nearly died laughing for all the joy we felt on hearing the news.

But even with a clean sweep of the White House, including both Houses of Congress and a Supreme Court firmly committed to the rule of law, will a Trump victory make any real difference in the end if the Democrats refuse to go along with the results?

Good article. Realistic.

OPINION.

What Trump voters got this week was the hope of a reprieve ... a reprieve from oppressive government. But will Trump even be allowed to return to the White House in January? Of this, we have no guarantees.

If he is, the pro-life movement can continue in its fight for life without fear of imprisonment for praying silently outside an abortion clinic. Traditional Catholics will not be viewed as domestic terrorists. Atempts will be made to shut the border to illegal immigrants. Attempts will be made to rid our Country of at least some of the criminals who have been allowed to freely enter these past 4 years. Perhaps inflation will come down. We won't be forced to take vaccinations or accept medical treatment we do not want. Perhaps many things, good things, will happen ...

... but those who hate Trump and America First policies have not gone away. They are not going to go away. There are too many persons in this Country, and in the world, who don't agree with America First. They will continue to fight it. So, with this win in our hands, the battle rages on ...

I'll take the reprieve, be happy for it, and grateful to God! As Christians, He has given us alittle more time to move freely within our society. We have alittle more time now to pray and witness to others. We have alittle more time to enjoy religious freedom. That could all be gone in a flash, but it won't be Donald Trump who takes it away. What is needed in America is revival ... spiritual revival within the Body of Christ, regardless of denomination. We have this window of time now to pray for it ... to repent of our sins and turn our hearts towards God. This is what we got with the election of Donald Trump. Alittle more time ...

Thank you, Jesus.

Nope. One friend said she will be angry for the next four years.
So, I think I made a big mistake today. I reached out to a friend that I thought might be a Democrat, to offer some prayer support in case she was down with the post-election blues. Big mistake. She wrote back, quoting just about every leftist talking point out there. And she wanted to debate me! Holy Moly! What a mistake it was for me to contact her. I don't think there's much rational talking going on right now, between Trump supporters and Democrats. And I don't advise trying it! lol ugh

That IS an option I guess. That friend will become increasingly sour and mentally unhealthy as the anger eats her up from the inside.

She’s a fallen away Catholic turned agnostic. All I can do is pray for her conversion.

They are full of rage right now over Trump winning. Best to leave them alone.

My friend even admitted to hating Trump supporters and called her uncle a derogatory name over it.

Yeah, Riley ... sometimes I'm a slow learner. I should have known to stay away from my friend, but we've been friends a long time. My instinct was to be concerned about her, but she's unreachable right now.

I was listening to some podcaster the other day. Don't remember who, but what he said made sense. He said the only folks who can reach the Democrats right now are fellow Democrats. Democrats will only listen to each other. Unfortunately, the Democratic leadership I hear speaking on the tv are telling their folks to 'fight'. (ugh)

There was a big protest against Trump in NYC today.
I heard of another one earier this week in Chicago.
Here we go ....

That's the thing that has me astounded, and concerned ... the rage, the hatred that party displays.

We saw and heard the hatred all during the campaigning. We're seeing it again now, after the election results. So many Democrats we are seeing appear to be FILLED with hatred and rage, and it hasn't just started now. No matter how understanding we may try to be about their upset, there is something very wrong about the level of rage and hatred they are spewing at others. (Dontcha think?)

I was prepared for Trump to lose the election. And I knew I was going to be very sad about it. But I wouldn't have turned into a rageaholic towards others about it. I just know I wouldn't have. I would have thought some unkind things at times about them, but I wouldn't have hated them. I haven't hated all this time they've been raging and false accusing. The rage? The source of it just isn't good ....... and I do find it abit frightening.

It's not just that Trump won, it's that radical liberalism was soundly defeated. The American people finally said "we're tired of this nonsense".
That's what they are seeing? Okay.
So how far do you think they are going to go, to retaliate against those they now perceive as their mortal enemies?
(I feel like if you threw a Trumper into a group of them, they would physically shred the Trumper into pieces. o_O )

IDK it seems I'm hearing more about them being depressed and downtrodden taking sick leave and so on. Seeing as how Trumpers have been portrayed as gun loving nazis so much, maybe they've become afraid of them. Perhaps if a Trumper was thrown into the group, they'd all scatter away.

lol. Well, I hope so. I've been seeing videos of young Democrats visciously speaking against Trump supporters. They almost appear demonically possessed. That's the problem with hatred. Basic Spirituality 101: Hatred in the heart opens one up to demonic attack, even demonic control. I think some of these suffering souls have very serious spiritual problems.

I know we're living in the last days, but somehow I didn't picture it like this ...

Not much sense talking to them at the moment until they calm down, if they ever do. They are going off at Republicans and independents and former Democrats and even turning on each other. It's a Party in collapse. I can only hope. And hope something better comes out of the ashes of that house fire.

They are just now moving beyond simple shock at their loss to abject rage. Here is where the violence begins.

I'm thinking you are right. ugh.

Funny how it goes. I was shocked at the win. Expected the election to be stolen. So I didn't 'feel' the happiness till 2 days later. It makes sense that it would work the same way with feelings of anger.

It's nice to be able to discuss these things here. Thanks.

I can be calm. I knew all along that my candidate would lose. No surprise there. No shock. Peter Sonski got thousands of votes. We won't know how many thousands of votes because some states like my own don't even provide statistics on write-in candidate performance. All write-ins are just grouped as 'write-in' and left at that.

I was expecting massive lawsuits from whichever side wasn't assured of victory. And counter law suits. I expect such lawsuits for close Congressional races but thankfully it won't happen for the presidential race.

I doubt it's going to be anything worse than what we've already seen and experienced.

I was working in Seattle during the 2020 riots. Between that and the pandemic, there certainly was an end times feeling.
