Ahhhhhh....I love top 5 lists, guess I've just watched High Fidelity 1 or 2 or 23 times too many. Either way, what are your top 5 last songs on an album? I'll start it up.....

1. The Velvet Underground- "Sister Ray" -- White Light/White Heat
2. Radiohead- "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" -- The Bends
3. The Doors- "The End" -- The Doors
4. Led Zeppelin- "When the Levee Breaks" -- IV
5. Radiohead- "Life in a Glass House" -- Amnesiac

Shame no-ones replied to this so far...i'll give it a go.

In no particular order:
1: At The Drive-In - "Catacombs" -- Relationship of Command (a bombastic aural assault if ever there was one)
2: Primal Scream - "Long Life" -- Vanishing Point
3: Mogwai - "Mogwai Fear Satan" -- Young Team
4: Fugazi - "Argument" -- The Argument
5: Slint - "Good Morning Captain" -- Spiderland

Just my tuppence

I apologise for it just being U2, but I'm not really familiar enough with enough other albums ... and I really do think these are the best anyway.

1. 40 (20 August 1983) from Under A Blood Red Sky by U2
2. MLK from The Unforgettable Fire by U2
3. Love Is Blindness from Achtung Baby by U2
4. October (hidden track) from Best Of 1980-1990 by U2
5. Wake Up Dead Man from Pop by U2

40 is the ultimate closing song. You haven't heard it until you hear the 8:29 epic from 5 February 1985, Bologna. That so should have been on an official release ...

1.
2.
3.
4.

Hahaha! Thanks for giving me a laugh.

Now to prove I can do it ...

1. The Hype
2. Feedback
Er, wait, scrub that. Those were names U2 performed under in the early days.

The REAL list.

1. Pink Floyd
2. Crowded House
3. Coldplay
4. Dire Straits
And ... and ... just one more!
5. Evanescence

Hooray for me!

right now these are at the top of my list....

1. two step - dave matthews band (i'm really not trying to copy dmb233... you just have really good taste) my fav. version of two step is the central park concert.
2. Spoon -dave m. band (album version w/ alannis morisette)
3. Warehouse- D.matthews band
4. Dancing Nancies- Dave matthews band
5. Sick, Sad, Little World - Incubus

i guess this wouldn't make sense if you weren't into dmb. and "proudest monkey" although a great song, is not dave's best work... look at the list above...
p.s. dave won a grammy.... too bad it was for his solo stuff.

I kinda halfway said that because I wasn't sure if she fully understood the thread. I was asking for the top 5 last songs on an album, and "Proudest Monkey" is the last song on Crash, whereas I'm pretty sure "Two Step" is somewhere near the beginning. Both are great songs anyway though, I happen to like "Proudest Monkey" quite a bit (it's prob my fave from DMB)

"In-a-gadada-vida", from the album of the same title by Iron Butterfly. (You have heard this if you have either seen the origional Manhunter (without Antony Hopkins) - it was playing in the climatic scene, or the Simpsons where Bart switches the music in church - it was this, and then sells his soul to Milhouse.

"Pay the man", from Americana by The Offspring

"Smash", from Smash, by the Offspring

"Coma White" from Mechanical Animals, by Marylin Manson

Mmmm - afraid I will have to cheat and go for a second-to-last for the fifth one, "Nightswimming" on Automatic for the People by REM.

(I would have mentioned The End, but it has already been done :))
