Moreso actually. While Daniel had to interact with the pagan Babylonians on a daily basis (being in the government structure) the Pharisees tried to keep themselves apart from general Jewish population as much as possible (except within the synagogues) and kept as far from the Greeks as they could. That made them an uneasy ally of the Zealots who were kind of like the IRA in trying to throw off Roman and Greek occupation and influence in the Holy Land.

Ummm... That's a long ways from what I said. What I was pointing out is historical fact. There is nothing wrong with brains or learning, but both must be surrendered to God or they become a curse to us. If I become so arrogant that I place my logic and ideas before, or in place of, God's word I am guaranteed to walk away from His leading. This has been done many many times throughout history. And when we don't learn from history we are doomed to make the same mistakes all over again.

Here is a quote from the first few pages of Whiting's book. He traces the entrance of rationalism into the theological institutions and the sophistries of Europe that have been used to justifiy it. He does an excellent job of it too. I have not quoted all the sophistries that he goes into detail on, but just quoted enough to show the background. He goes into specifics on the denial of inspiration and the power of God in the life.

Very true! We see examples in the New Testament with Peter and other Jews visiting the houses of Gentiles and even eating with them, which was practically unheard of since Gentiles were considered unclean.

How is it that those with the hightest IQ seem to be the ones who most reject God.

It may seem that way, but it is not true. Don't believe the hype of these modern day tropes. History shows us that it is not true. Theological history, philosophical history, scientific history all testify to the intellectual rigor of Christians before us. One example from the past, is a man by the name of Jonathan Edwards. To really make a case would require much deliberation of explanation that I lack the stamina here for, but part of the problem today are the failures of modern institutions of education, beginning at the lowest levels all the way up to the highest levels. There are so many different reasons as to why and how for all of our technological advances and living in the digital age of an abundance of information our society has become more and more dull mentally in general as a whole. One reason is the over abundance of entertainment and prevalence of an entertainment driven culture. Another reason is the over abundance of things which provide instant gratification and our desires for comfort and pleasure above intellectual pursuits. The philosophy of pragmatism rules in modern times, especially in America, and it is why it may seem that those which the highest IQ are the ones who most reject God.
