Yeah, I get scarce for a while (I'm working on my honors thesis, since I graduate in May), and the fists start flying...

Valentine's Day? Oh, you mean the "Avoid the main plaza because it's crowded with sorority girls trying to sell you flowers Day"?

Ah, flowers. When I was younger and cheekier (and everyone understood the context, since the whole class studied Bio) I would point out around this time of the year that flowers are plants' reproductive organs. Isn't it weird how we express our love? "I love you. Here, have the pretty genitalia of an angiosperm."

Maybe that's why I'm still romantically challenged.

Mel! Are you actually 17?? You can't possibly do an honours thesis at that age, can you?

When I was younger and cheekier (and everyone understood the context, since the whole class studied Bio) I would point out around this time of the year that flowers are plants' reproductive organs. Isn't it weird how we express our love? "I love you. Here, have the pretty genitalia of an angiosperm."

Yes, I'm 17. Whyever not? I'm quite ready to graduate and get on to medical school. Since my major is actually in music, my thesis is on the Te Deum, and various musical treatments of it in the 17-19th centuries.

Are you talking about an undergraduate honors thesis? Like, "I've gotten my brain washed for three years at uni and I'm going to spend this year showing them how thoroughly they did it" honors?

That's way fast. When I was 17, I'd just finished high school.

Yep, that type of honors. Only I'm doing it in 3 months instead of a year....(it took me a while to decide on a topic).

I laughed out loud when I read this, and then it made me think how true it is.

Some then follow up the flowers with more plant material (cocoa) combined with milk and other stuff...which sounds pretty good right now.
