  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"The heart", that is, the natural heart, "is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked" (Jer.17:9). Some churches may talk about 'a change of heart' but, it is never changed. A 'new heart' must be given. The 'new heart' is not the old one changed, but newly created, i.e., "begotten by God."

2Cor.5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.

2Cor.3:2-3
v.2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
v.3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.

2Cor.4:6 For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Eph.3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

Eph.4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Eph.6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

2Thes.2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men,
but God, Which trieth our hearts,

1Tim.1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Phil.4:7-8
v.7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
v.8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.

Let us all be as David, for he was "a man after Mine (God's) own heart, which shall fulfil all My (God's) will." (Acts13:22)

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen." (2Cor.13:14)

I ssee Israel as promised a NEW HEART...but NOT us. What do you think? We are promised HIS LIFE instead of our own, but does our heart really change? Do you think maybe its that we learn to depend on the NEW man (Christ) and PUT OFF the OLD?

Just something to discuss...no biggie....huuuuugs

I dont know about YOU guys, but my heart is just as ugly and nasty and mean as it was the day I got saved! God simply doesnt recognize it! He sees me IN CHRIST...accepted IN THE BELOVED. He doesnt SEE me in ADAM...but IN CHRIST.

See how important it is to recognize truths as GOD sees em??? Wow...a brand new identity...one I didnt have before. But nothing about a new heart. wink

Sort of on the same subject as the heart.... the spirit of god. We are all sinners, this is true, but we have the power of the holy spirit working in us..... so we can change. All we need do is confess our sins (specifically) to God and ask to be forgiven and filled with the spirit. Remember, that every time we sin, we are emptied of the spirit and need to start over with the filling process... it may or may not give us a new heart, but it will help to "fulfil all My (God's) will."

If our actions, no matter how well intentioned, are not done in the power of the Spirit, then they will be burnt, though we will remain.

dear eph3Nine:

Have you ever studied the 2 natures of the child of God? I will post a new thread dedicated to this study, o.k.? The 2 natures are the "flesh" (old nature) and the "spirit" (new nature). So, when I talk about the 'new heart', I am talking about the 'new spirit'.

In Romans chapters 1-8, there is much Scripture about the 2 natures---old nature vs. new nature and "law" (fleshly) vs. "grace" (spiritual).
(Rom.2:28-29)
v.28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
v.29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the HEART, in the SPIRIT, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

(Col.2:11)
In Whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ:

Yes, Israel will be given a "new heart" and "new spirit" also. (Ezek.11: 19, 18:31, 36:26)

Also, the Book of Galatians is full of God's truth about the "flesh" and "spirit".

I also agree that it is 'no biggie'...'just something to discuss'

((((((((((((((eph3Nine))))))))))))))

p.s.---maybe this is an opportunity for a discussion that will show that "rightly dividing the word of truth" does not cause division or strife between members of the body of Christ. wink

p.s.s.---in my humble opinion, as long as the application of Scripture to ourselves, in "the church of God" does not conflict with other passages...I don't think it causes harm.?! Let's discuss it...o.k.? I'm still working on posting a thread on 'interpretation & application' ... sorry, it's taking so long ...

No problem...I know you suffer from physical pain and I dont want to cause you further discomfort by having to address alot of stuff...but thanks for your answer.

Yes, Ive done studies on the OLD NATURE vs the NEW...fascinating isnt it??

The only reason I made the distinction here with the word HEART is because of the references in scripture to Israel being given a NEW heart.

God purposely leaves us in these bodies of flesh for a reason. So that we will be in total dependence upon His SPIRIT residing within us for ANYTHING Good that might come out of our lives and mouths. HE knows that our hearts are still the same mean, nasty and yukky things that they were when we got saved...but HE wants us to RECOGNIZE that He no longer deals with the OLD MAN, and that the NEW MAN that has been put ON at our salvation is the One on whom we are to RELY. That nasty old self hasnt been put in a cage or taken AWAY...but by renewing our minds , it can be kept in its proper place as we learn to rely more and more on Christ IN US, our hope of GLORY.

To let folks think that somehow they have been given a new heart that wont do or think stupid and mean and hateful things is to confuse them. They WILL think stupid and mean and hateful things...but that is NOT the sin. Its what we DO with those thots that will determine our individual character development and GROWTH in Christ.
Do we commit every thot unto the rulership of Christ? We can make it our goal...I know we can ...but its all about growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior...NOT about SIN and how often we mess up. As long as we are in these mortal bodies we will struggle with the flesh, the world and the devil...thems the facts.

But we can have victories...The indwelling Christ is the focus....NOT our old rotten hearts.

Know what I mean, jelly bean??? Hugs to yu girl....get some rest today...I love you.

my beloved sister in Christ:

You are right...it is an excellent study.

And I agree with you when it comes to NOT wanting to confuse others that haven't studied the 2 natures. The Lord knows that there is enough confusion around here already...LOL

Thanks for thinking about me concerning my physical health.
God has blessed me richly by bringing you into my life here on earth. I rejoice in the knowledge that you and I will be spending eternity together too.

I love you too, girl
