  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

From Drudge:

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE

A letter from the RNC to ABC:
As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime
.

Exciting stuff to witness...

WRT the OP. The RNC doesn't run the country. Why should they be given equal time when the point of the Town Hall is for Obama to roll out his plan for health care? If it were Bush rolling out his plan, the DNC wouldn't be given equal air time. Every president is given the opportunity to present their policies on national television. Look at all the special coverage given to the Bush administration any time he wanted to discuss the war. Suddenly, when Obama does it, people start ranting about the antichrist.

It would be nice if a conservative Christian forum for once spent some time actually praying for the leadership of the country instead of trying to tear it down. At a time when Nero was ravaging the Christian population, you never once see Paul saying so much as a cross word about him. Instead, Paul preached about how we are to submit to secular authority and pray for it because it is ordained by God. Let's get back to our conservative roots and start doing what the Bible says we should do--pray for our leaders and support them.

It just shows the complete ignorance of most of the country regarding history that they can see something like this and not recognize it as a typical ploy of totalitarianism and fascism.

Of course that doesn't take into account the fact that many of the people are so oblivious they don't see it at all.

Your analogies aren't quite right. For one, we are taught to submit to secular authority unless they tell us to go against our faith. Jesus taught it, too. Perhaps you recall his teaching, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's."

Also, Paul preaching about the 'Unknown God' did not cause the uproar. It was not the same as going into a mosque and telling people to repent and to preach Christ. Mars Hill was where the philosophers commonly went and debated. What Paul did was not considered weird or uncommon.

He is telling us to go against our faith by including "reproductive services" (abortion) as part of his health plan. To make it worse, this will require tax funding meaning that whether you agree with it or not our tax money will pay for abortions.

Fascism? I don't think so.
I've studied history quite a bit, and I don't see the signs of fascism rearing their ugly heads.
For those interested, here are a few signs of fascist tendencies.
Trying to limit the media from reporting the full story on things.
Appealing to nationalism, i.e., saying people who disagree aren't patriots.
Trying to spread your political philosophies by force.
Arresting and disappearing people.

I don't see that happening right now. I have seen that in the recent past however.

I've been paying and will be paying for a very long time for a war I disagree with. I am paying to incarcerate people who have admittedly done nothing wrong except be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am paying taxes to subsidize companies that treat people in other countries like slaves. I am paying taxes to execute people when I don't support the death penalty. I could go on and on.

No. The fact that if one endorses Obama's plan knowing that it is immoral would then one would be endorsing immorality. We probably won't have a choice on whether it passes or not and probably part of my taxes will eventually go to commit infanticide but I don't have to endorse it.

If it were every TV station and all citizens were required to watch, yeah, then you'd have a case. But one station choosing to cover a plan that will effect all citizens? Nah.

How dare you pass judgment upon these people here? You don't know what or how they are praying yet you assume the worst. What goes on in the prayer closet is a private matter not for public display.

Obama's love for abortion rights and LGBT rights are as evil as the "Bush War" you complain about, but somehow it is time to "support" Obama. Let's get back to our conservative roots and start doing what the Bible says we should do--declare that which is evil sin and call for repentence.

I don't see any calls to prayer for Obama in this forum. Instead I see calls to prayer against Obama. So, I'm not passing judgment. I'm making an observation. You can declare what is a sin and call for repentance. But, you are also obligated to pray for your leadership. It's not an either/or proposition.

Like Naadine says, just walk & chew gum at the same time..do not mistake the lack of calls for prayer for neglect of doing the same.

I pray for him - I pray his plans get stopped before they
RUIN America as we once knew it.

But I know one thing for sure, God has plans to move America
right into His prophetic plan and there's a reason that man is
in office right now.
It may be that God needs Obama to ruin America for all we know -
to change it to fit the end times scenarios He has planned.
I also believe George Bush was put in office to get us tied up
in Iraq so that other events could take place on God's
prophetic calendar.

It's all going to happen to God's plan - but I'll continue praying
against his socialistic/Big brother-govt. plans (to name just a few).

It would be a real good idea to take a look at the model Obama wants
to take us to: Brittains have just recently been voting for conservatives
to undo their own system - they're not liking the socialism and
govt. run health care that sucks.

Just seeing his stimulus plan should make us RUN from anything
else he wants to run and take over. It not only isn't working,
but it's putting us into massive debt that we cannot possibly pay
AND causing other countries to OWN a piece of us.
OY VEY.

What about all the calls for prayer against Obama? Those should go. Pray against the sin, not the man.
As much as I hated Bush, I never prayed against the man.
when a man opens up the channels for PBA & abortion,
he SHOULD be prayed against in what he's doing and allowing
(just like all the democrats who hit office and their links to
abortion - how ironic).

I pray God's will and I pray he will know the Lord
