Christmas represents the time when "God the Son" manifested himself on Earth as a human child named Jesus Christ. He was uniquely born and was now true humanity and "God the Son" at the same time, yet maintaining His position as a member of the Trinity.
He physically and spiritually grew to maturity as a human being, fulfilling God the Fathers promise to Adam & Eve after they sinned and fell from Gods Grace in the Garden. His promise to them was to send a Redeemer so they and their progeny would have the opportunity to have an eternal relationship with God.
Jesus mission as the Redeemer was a complete success; during His time on earth, His sinless life qualified Him to pay the penalty for every sin mankind ever committed - past, present & future.
The Christ whose human birthday we honor at Christmas, paid the sin penalty for us by going to the cross as our substitute, dying first spiritually in His final hours being judged for our sins, then, when it was finished, He dismissed His spirit, died physically and rose again on the third day; He did this so all mankind would have an opportunity to receive the promised eternal relationship with God, that is, eternal life.
Therefore, what Jesus accomplished for us by going to the cross was, it gave us all a choice as to where we spend our eternal future when our physical life ends. We have only two choices, they are: choose to be with God in Heaven or choose to remain separated from God forever & ever in the lake of fire.
How then, can we be with God? He made it very simple for us, that is, by faith, simply "believe (trust) in Jesus Christ for eternal life." The Bible, specifically the Gospel of "John" was written to unbelievers (also the confused) and proclaims this simple message over and over; for example, John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten (uniquely born) Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." NKJV
Another passage, John 6:47 says: "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me (Jesus Christ) has everlasting life." NKJV
Notice what John 6:47 says, "he who believes in Me has everlasting life," it doesnt say "will have", it says "has." Therefore, sometime between the age of accountability and physical death all any human being must do to receive eternal life, is to simply believe in Jesus Christ for it and you have it (its really that simple, nothing more nothing less).
The very moment one believes in Christ, you receive the greatest gift of all, "Eternal Life", your name is written in the "Book of Life" and you will spend eternity in heaven. Furthermore, once you have it, you can never lose your gift of eternal life (John 10:28-29).
The Bible says all this is true, I chose to believe it and that settles it for me. However, if you are not absolutely certain about your eternal future, I urge you to strongly consider the information presented to you in this message. Merry Christmas
