  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Read The Subtle Knife and loved it. Wonderful concepts and delivery. Didn't know about Golden Compass until later. I wanna get around to reading it and Amber Spyglass sometime in the future. Anyway, hopefully they haven't chopped the movie up so that it's like so many other movies based on good books: horrible!!

I thought this was the book that was anti-Christian or whatever. NOT that I am trying to pass judgment on it, because I have yet to read this book (although I do want to). That is the biggest complaint I have against Christians who hate Harry Potter and haven't read them - they don't even know what they are against! So anyway, I think I will definitely go see this movie, it looks pretty good. However, I would like to know more about its religious standpoint before doing so. Can anyone here tell me?
