  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The gifts have stoped!

@@PUAL@@,
WHat the heck does that mean??
Hey, you just asked for a verse... :)

There were at least THREE baptisms during the Acts and the Gospels period..

WATER
POWER / FIRE
DEATH

WATER if course is simply an outward sign of purification. The Baptism unto POWER can be seen at pentecost, through Acts by "laying on of hands", etc. etc... Sign gifts followed this baptism... Paul states there is only ONE Baptism today > and that's Death (which does not give you POWER).

Short and sweet but, Make sense??

Hi Johnny and Paul:
Johnny >> The Bible teaches that the sign gifts have stopped.

Paul >> But can you give a scriptural reason why?

The signs and wonders associated with the Holy Spirit offering the ‘good news of the kingdom of God’ (Acts 8:12), and ceased almost 2000 years ago. What did Paul say?
“Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.” 1Cor. 13:8-10.

The ‘perfect’ here represents the completed canonized Text of your New Testament. God gave us the NT Scriptures through the scriptures of the prophets (Rom. 16:26). Those words do not represent Isaiah and Malachi. They are referring to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, etc.. Our NT is not every letter ever written by all the NT prophets; not by a long shot. They represent twenty seven from hundreds and even thousands of letters that circulated throughout all the known world in Paul’s day. God used the prophet, man of knowledge and tongues to speak to the members of the growing churches in Paul’s day.

Many people have the wrong idea about this gift of tongues. The fact that tongues is not vain babbling is taught in your Bible. Peter’s entire discourse of Acts 2 was spoken in tongues. The key is that all of these Jews heard in the language of their native tongue.
“And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.” Acts 2:6.

"And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?” Acts 2:8.

So, if your own language happens to be modern English, then that is exactly what you should hear in the presence of real Biblical ‘tongues.’ Vain babbling that you hear among the Pentecostals is just that. When you hear a message in English, and the German person next to you hears it in German, then you are in the presence of the real Biblical tongues.

Great signs and wonders are not part of this dispensation of God’s grace. Paul writes,
“For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for itRom. 8:24+25.

Our ‘faith’ to believe the gospel is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8+9), and “we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace.” Rom. 5:2. Suppose I came over to your house, and before preaching the gospel we raised a few folks from the dead. Then, we healed everybody in your neighborhood that was ill. When I finally got around to preaching the gospel, what would be the source of your believing? If God is going to give you a sign, and then you believe the good news concerning His Son, then He has cheated all of the other souls who failed to believe; those who He showed nothing. God is a Righteous, Holy and True; and He is giving everyone here the same offering of the gospel for the obedience of faith (Rom. 16:25-27). There are no more sign gifts today, because God has delivered the mail in the form of our completed Holy Scriptures. They will start up again when Elijah returns to restore all things (Matt. 17:11).

In Christ,

Terral

Do you not see the baptism WITH the Holy Spirit as the Baptism which equiped the disciples of the kingdom ministry with the POWERS of "sign gifts"??
