  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

^yay!!!!

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

pierced straight to the heart!

^but of course!!! i was really so hooked! they're amazing! and besides, there's a story behind every song they create... heartfelt at the same time very creative...

I can still remember those times when I'm talking about this band to most of my friends and I was just returned with blank stares... now, Im so happy at what they have reached!

I wish I could say I liked them. I really do, but after listening to the album a few times, I just can't deal with the lead singer's voice. The songs are pretty lethargic, too, IMO.

This genre of music is growing on me, though, as I get older. Being a drummer, it's easier on the wrists to play this kind of stuff than it is to play, say, Foo Fighters or Breaking Benjamin.

I can't get enough of the new Snow Patrol album, "Eyes Open". Now that's good stuff. Those guys, along with Keane and Coldplay, are the dominant bands of this genre.

I know, I know, I'm off-topic by propping other bands besides the one mentioned in the OP... :sorry:

true, i really have to agree that their songs won't really perk you up most of the time but it depends. as for me, what got me hooked on them is the way they compose and deliver their songs, although i must admit again that they have this singing pattern that is very much predictable.

Wow, I can actually say that this surprised me a bit...

Also, (and if this is too terribly off-topic, than feel free to just PM me with the answer) I haven't given the new Snow Patrol a proper listen yet, although I'm loving the single "Chasing Cars", how would you rate it based on their album Final Straw (of which I am in love with)

More on topic : While it is a decent song, if I have to hear "How to Save a Life" one more time on a TV show, I may blow up NBC headquarters.

Well, I hate to say this, but the new album is more...commercially accessible...than Final Straw. I don't mean that in a bad way, either. The production is just a little more "polished"; the electric guitars a little more audible...

You need this album. Today. Go get it.

Careful now, dear. You might trigger a Patriot Act-type response from Big Brother with that post. But you're right. It's the new "Bad Day"...

I like the Fray. *bows* *unites*

Are you going to see them live in concert?
I'm unsure if I want to see them, as I have yet to go to a "normal," laid-back concert this year. Not sure if I can handle it. :sorry:

On a sidenote, I'm sad that I missed them in concert recently.

I'm confused. Are you exasperated by my comment, or do you agree with it that intensely?

I mean, it's all subjective, of course, but the songwriting/arranging skills of Coldplay, Snow Patrol, and Keane are just...better...than those of The Fray. In addition to the previously mentioned unpleasant quality of the lead singer's voice.*shrugs*

I'm just exasperated, in general. Think that has more to do with me being so out-of-shape. Aaaanyway...

I think I was just happy that you'd mentioned Snow Patrol, to tell you the truth. I like them.....a lot.
