The decision was made because a determination was made that more people would die if they DID NOT drop the bomb. Was this decision based on good sound science or was it based on something else?
Correct, that is what THIS discussion is about. How do we use that knowledge.
What is the practical application.
The decision has been made before you get them. In general when they kill someone they do it under the pretense that they are giving them pain killer to make them a little bit more comfortable. As you know there can be a thin line there between enough to ease the pain and pushing them over the line.
To be sure this is my own personal conviction. The Bible says to choose life, so that is what I believe. They have living wills so people are given the choice to end their life if they want. I had a friend that had a stroke and he could not talk. He had a living will and his wife executed it and they cut off his water and he dehydrated and died. I did not agree with it. But I was not a part the decision to allow him to die from lack of water. We are told: " "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink."

Yes, esp when the people have something they call a living will.It is your position then, that medical professionals, kill people on purpose?
Well this has gotten weird
I do not come here with that agenda. I am willing to argue against evolution. I am willing to argue FOR evolution. Right now there are plenty of people that want to be for evolution, so that leave me in the position of having to debate against it. Which is fine with me. I have taken graduate level debate classes because it's something I enjoy. Is it, really?
Because it seems to me that this entire thread was more about "see? evolution must be false because hitler did evil things".
Evolution is a method of teaching that is very effective. No one has come up with anything any better. The debate and the discussion is a way to get the material across to people in a way that they tend to remember it.Evolution is the backbone of any branch of biological sciences.
Close but no cigar. Hitler used Darwin's theory as a part of his belief system to bring about the Holocaust. You can say he was a naught boy and he should not have done that. But that does not seem to be putting an end to ISIS ethnic purging attempts. So the beat goes on despite your protests. One could say that almost any practical application of anything biological or genetic is a practical application of evolution theory.
It is through evolution theory that we unraveld how genes and DNA works. It is through evolution theory that we understood why selective breeding yields the best results. And understanding how the underlying processes and mechanics work, only contributed to more innovation in those practices. As well as opening the door for entirely new practices and applications.
Like for example in computer sciences, we have this thing called Genetic Algoritms, which are frequently used as search heuristics or optimization modules for design problems.
None of this has anything to do with racist bigots and psychopaths who went on genocidal killing sprees.

As a Christian we believe that we will see 1,000 years of world peace. But first there is going to be a final battle.

This is a very very common discussion when your a part of a medical family. This is the kind of conversation you have when you sit around the dinner table. It may seem unusual to a lot of people.I have to say Joshua, you have gone to new heights in this thread.

Evolution is a method of teaching . . .
Hitler used Darwin's theory as a part of his belief system to bring about the Holocaust.
I am mostly only against the mutation theory. Most Creationists have no problem with micro evolution they only argue against macro evolution. The people here like to defend the theory so I give them the opportunity to do just that.Lets say we have some people on these boards that are on the fence, in regards to evolution.
Do you believe, your debate tactics on this thread, would persuade them to agree with your position?

Actually I was thinking about a discussion about if there was some degree of humanitarianism in the Third Reich. But now I do not think it would be possible to discuss that here. Yet is that not what the medical profession is doing? Is it not a form of mercy killing. Sort of like shooting an animal to put it out of it's misery. I guess I can understand how this sort of a conversation can throw people if it is something they are not use to.
I know a girl who works in the hospital and they put her on suicide watch. She was talking about a patient that blew off the side of his face with a gun. He did quite a bit of damage to himself. I have no problem talking with her about whatever she is concerned with deal with this situation. It may make some people uncomfortable though. It reminds me of a training film I saw where a soldier in Vietnam sustained quite a bit of damage from a claymore mine. He ended up getting 160 stitches. The issue for me was that they returned him to active duty and I did not feel that was right or fair. But during WW2 people use to shoot themselves in the foot so they could go home. So they changed the policy and an injury was no longer a ticket home.
But I understand now evolutionists do not want to deal with real life issues. They want their theory to stay on the drawing table. Perhaps that is they way of playing it safe and staying out of a lot of the controversy.

I doubt Darwin can be blamed for Hitler. However Hitler and his Friend Margeret Sanger the founder of planned Parenthood both believed in selective breeding and the extermination of inferior beings. Hitler was able to join selective breeding with antisemitism to justify mass murder. It was not only Jews, but Gypsy's and the retarded and insane and others that were killed. Planned parenthood was primarily aimed at blacks and the poor as well as the genetic ly inferior.

My mom was a bacteriologist. So she did teach us a little bit about that. I did a study once on cause of death for the hunter gather pre civilization people. Most of them were murdered. A lot of times the remains were being investigated as a murder until they found out the skeleton was 20,000 years old and the cause of death was a stone age arrow head. There are plenty of people who argue for Germ Theory. Are you going to argue that microorganisms don't cause infectious diseases?
