I cannot believe some of the results earlier in this - how on earth did Metallica beat Led Zepplin and Rage Against the Machine? They did deserve to beat Aerosmith though - I cannot believe they beat Guns 'n Roses.

I respect everyone's music tastes - I just cannot believe them

Pink Floyd is unbelievable, even if they only had Dark Side of the Moon they should still win. They were way ahead of their time with the electronic stuff, DSOTM synchs up to Wizard of Oz (I have done this three times do not try to tell me it is simple coincidence) Remember a Day is an amazing song, the album Meddle (with Fearless, San Tropez etc) is Floyd's 2nd best album (IMO) AND still one of the best albums of all time, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, the great decision to get rid of Syd Barrett, the organ in "Any Colour You Like," the "Breathe" theme, "Time," "Money," The Wall! U2 is a great band but Pink Floyd is just better.

I do not know. I cannot understand. I feel like going on a tangent about how Zeppelin is the best band in this tournament but I do not want to take the attention off of PINK FLOYD.

Great decision? I dunno, I thought Piper at the Gates of Dawn was a pretty darn good album; I would have liked to see what else Barrett could do with the group. If the poor guy hadn't gone insane........but maybe that's why his music was cool.........

Agreed, although the work Rogers did after Syd was replaced was brilliant.

I've never heard Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Is "The Gnome" on that? Gnome is a pretty cool song. I also like "Bike" a lot, which is another Barrett song. I own Saucerful of Secrets, which I am pretty sure was concurrent with Barrett. Remember a Day is on that one, so is Set the Controls...which is cool. One song on there (I forget) has the theme of "Careful with that Axe, Eugene) as the background. Barrett did have talent, but he took so much acid that he went nuts. The final straw was a concert in which Barrett stared with a gaping mouth at the crowd, playing one chord the whole concert. Shortly after that the band conveniently "forgot" to pick him up for a show. He was a weird dude and I like the direction PF went post-Barrett.

My two favourite bands in the final ... this is just awesome. I love it, it's a dream come true and I never, ever expected to see it. U2 running away to beat The Beatles right near the end of the poll was really cool. While I like Pink Floyd and think they're the only band that can possibly hold a candle to U2, we all know exactly where my vote went.

9-12 to the Floyd ... come on, let's get some more votes going U2's way!
