  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw it, and while it was fairly predictable standard holiday family gathering fare I very much enjoyed it. I appreciated the honest approach to the breast cancer the mother has been fighting for some time...

When the mother shows that mastectomy scar and put hubbies hand over it I cried... and thought of the women I know who won't let ANYONE even their own husbands see the scars they have.. and I wanted every one of them to see this movie for that one single loving moment

It does have a major tear jerker component and while the reality is that that component is a major underlying theme in the movie it doesn't overwhelm the film and make it a "sad" movie.

I liked that the Stone Family is a very strong unit.. a long and apparently loving and happy marriage is portrayed and they have normal little sibling issues among the grown children without being a bitter dysfunctional family which is so often the family we get to see in comedy/drama type films.

I LOVED it. My fiance took me to see it and it was one of the best movies I've seen this year. The funny thing is that I act very much like Sarah Jessica Parker's character, and even got into a similar argument with an in-law as she did at the dinner table (only my opinion was opposite hers). IT made me really sad, because she didn't do anything wrong, people just automatically seemed to dislike her because she was insecure and I feel that way sometimes too when I meet knew people (thankfully my in-laws have always like me though)The sub plot was very moving as well. I definitely recomend this one for men and women alike.:thumbsup:.
