  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is an indepth study of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
If you really want to understand the Bible then this is for you.

Jesus is the centerpiece of history.
And Jesus also is the centerpiece of the Bible.
All the people in the Old Testament look forward to the coming of the Messiah.
And everybody that lives on this side of the Lord looks back to what He did.
The Old Testament was saying that someone was coming.
The Gospels has said someone has come.
And the Epistles and Revelation is saying someone is coming again.
The Bible is divided into 3 different dispensations.
If you cannot make a distinction between these 3 dispensations, you will end up with some false teachings, and you will not understand the Word.
The Bible has to be rightly divided in order to understand it.
The Bible was written by 40 authors
On 3 continents
In 3 different languages
The Bible is inspired by God
Because man could not have written such a Book like the Bible and live by it.

* The first dispensation is the Pentateuch dispensation; where a father served at a family altar and offered up sacrifices for his family.
The oldest man in the family did this.
* The second dispensation is the Mosaic dispensation; then it begins and this is a national altar with Aaron the High Priest for the Nation Israel.
* Then the third dispensation; beginning with the death of Jesus on the cross; is the Christian dispensation. Where it is an international priesthood in the fact that Jesus is the High Priest for the whole world.

Genesis is called the seed plot of the Bible and since it is called this, it takes a little longer to look at Genesis as it does to look at the rest of the Bible.
Gen.1:1
Time – In the beginning
Force – God
Energy – created
Space – the Heavens
Matter – the Earth
These are the 5 elements that Scientists don’t want you to know.
Now in the beginning, everything was absolute perfect; it was wonderful and there was paradise in the Garden of Eden.
Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to dress and keep it.
When God said, “keep it”, He hints at the presence of an enemy.
For the term literally means, “to guard or protect from harm.”
To this charge was given a 3-fold statement.
1) A permission – “Of every tree of the Garden thou mayest eat.”
2) A prohibition – “But of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil thou shalt not eat of it.”
3) A penalty – “For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
The permission was gracious
The prohibition was clearly stated
The penalty should have deterred the bravest of men.

Read Gen. 2:16,17

She subtracted from God’s Word – “freely”
She added to God’s Word – “neither touch it” God did not say, “not to touch it.”
He said, “not to eat of it”
She substituted for God’s Word – “lest ye die.”
She misstated the permission
She overstated the prohibition
She understated the penalty

Cause of sin:
1 John 2:16
“For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
* She saw – lust of the eye
* She ate – Good for food – lust of the flesh
* She believed that she would be as God – pride of life

She doubted God Word, His goodness, His truthfulness, and His judgment.
So when you start doubting these things, you are going to start to disobey Him.
Then we see Eve eating the forbidden fruit and she gives to her husband Adam and he ate of the fruit and as a result they were driven out of the Garden of Eden.
Before they were driven out of the Garden of Eden, God made a promise.
Gen. 3:15
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

This is what God told the devil.
Now this is the first Messianic Prophecy.
The first prophesy that a Savior was coming into the world.
It reveals that her seed (Eve’s seed) is going to crush the devil.
And it is going to be a boy (his heel)
So the very first promise of the Bible indicates that the Messiah is going to be the seed of a woman. (Virgin born)
And the devil didn’t understand that.
A boy baby of a woman is going to come into the world and destroy the devil.
Neither Adam nor Eve, nor even Satan caught the full significance of it.

Gal 4:4
“But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,”

Isaiah 7:14
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

Romans 16:20
“Then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”

Hebrew 2:14
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same nature, that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil,”

After this prediction was given, they were driven from the Garden, banned from the tree of life, river of life, and the angels forbid them to enter; pain, death, sorrow, and all kinds of problems; cause they were sinners and paradise was lost.
But they believed that promise that a Savior was coming into the world.
And when their first boy was born, they called him “Cain”
“Cain” means “Striker”
Eve thought “Cain” was that promised boy and that he was going to be her Savior.
Then Eve had another boy and she called him “Abel”
“Abel” means “vanity” “useless”
Cain struck and killed his brother.
Cain was not a polytheist {there are many gods}, atheist {there is no God}, agnostic {there is no knowledge if there is a God}, nor an idolater.
He was a deist who denied the blood sacrifice and killed Abel.

Then Adam and Eve would later have another child, and they called him “Seth”
“Seth” means, “substitute”
Adam and Eve hoped that Seth would be the one to deliver them.
Now God told the devil; I’m bringing a boy baby, born of a woman, coming into the world that is going to crush your head.
He is going to destroy you!
So the devil says: “Man, I’ve got to do something.”
So the devil gets Cain, who was a wicked boy to kill Abel, who was a good boy because the devil feared Abel.
Cain killed Abel and here is Seth, the substitute in his place, and the descendants of Seth begin to call on the name of the Lord. (Gen. 6:1)

There are 2 understandings of who the “Sons of God” are. {Gen.6:2}
* Some believe the Sons of God are the descendants of Seth who called on the name of the lord and the descendants married the daughters of Cain and the whole world became corrupt.
* The Sons of God were angels.
And when the angels saw the daughters were fair, they chose wives and took them for wives, and this produced rebels.
I hold to the 2nd view and here is why I believe that the “sons of God” were “angels.”

The Septuagint Version, which is the Old Testament, translated into Greek, reads it “angels.”
Codex Alexandria, Augustine, translate it “angels.”
The Jews also thought that the sons of God were angels.
The Jewish Encyclopedia still maintains that position
Philo and Josephus maintains that position also
Early Christian Commentators held this view also, such as Justin
Martyr, Clement of Rome, Tertullian, and Ireneus, also Luther (the Reformer), Genenius (The Hebrew Scholar), Rosenmuler.
The Book of Enoch 6:2 advocates this view
Also the Testament of the Twelve Patriachs.

The Holy Scriptures states that the angels did sin:
2 Peter 2:4
“For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of nether gloom to be kept until the judgment”

Jude 1:6,7
“And the angels that did not keep their own position but left their proper dwelling have been kept by him in eternal chains in the nether gloom until the judgment of the great day
“Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”

Now everybody kept hoping that their son was going to be the Messiah.
So now the whole world became so corrupt that God had to destroy the whole world of approx. 60 million people.
And only 8 people were saved out of about 60 million people in the time of the flood and we are back to square one.
Now of these 8 people, God probably told Satan “Now you think your smart.!!! I had to destroy my world and I have only 3 boys who can father kids, Shem, Ham, Japheth.”
Now you remember when Noah got drunk and hid himself in the tent and his son Ham saw his father nakedness. (Gen. 9:22)

Gen. 9:25-27
“ And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the lord God of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.”

When Satan got the world to become perverted by the mixed marriages of the sons of God to the daughters of men, the world became extremely wicked. It is during this time that God said “Then the LORD said, "My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for he is flesh, but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years."
God’s Spirit does strive with man.
Both Enoch and Noah were preaching at this time about the righteousness and judgment of God.

1 Peter 3:20 “who formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water.”

2 Peter 2:5 “if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven other persons, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly.”

Jude 1:14,15 “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

Now it is limited to the race of Shem.
The Messiah has to come thru the line of Shem.
Not Ham or Japheth, but Shem!
I believe Ham did more than look upon his father nakedness.

Gen. 9:24
“ And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.”

Ham was a pervert; the Canaanites down through the years were Sodomites; they were given over to homosexuality.
All the years God had to destroy the Canaanites cause they were wicked and perverse people.
Noah prophetically saw the evil nature of one like Canaan. His descendants would be evil, lustful, perverted men, and end up servants for they sought the lust of the flesh rather than Spiritual discernment.
And now God had made a promise that the Messiah would come out of a picticular race.
The race of Shem.
So Satan said “if the messiah got to come out of Shem, and if I can get Shem, Ham, and Jepheth to settle in the plains of Shinar and build this huge tower up into heaven, they’ll inter-marry and if they inter-marry, there won’t be a race of Shem, they will be a big group of people from Noah. Ham, Japheth, and Shem won’t be separated and the Messiah won’t come out of Shem.”

3 questions we ought to ask ourselves:
In an evil and adulterous generation would I have:
1. Found grace in the eyes of the Lord?
2. Built the ark the way God said?
3. Been content to save those God said would be saved?
Noah was.!!

Think about it!

The day the ark rested was the same calendar day that Jesus arose from the dead.
The 17th day of the 7th month, when the institution of the Passover was established.
The 7th month became the first month.
The Passover was the 14th day of the month.
3 days later would be 17th day of the month.
Christ had passed through the waters of judgment victoriously.
Consider, this in light of 1 Peter 3:21
“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”

We are not saved by baptism alone, but by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is because we are baptized into Him and raised with Him, like the ark was raised, that we finally come to rest in Him.
They had been in the ark that was covered with pitch (in Hebrew, “atonement”) It is because we are in Him and raised with Him, that we find rest.
So Satan move was that he got the boys to build the tower.
But God move was to go down and confuse their language.
As a result, Ham, Jepheth and Shem all moved in different directions.
About 150 years after the flood; in the days of the man by the name “Peleg”
Cause in his day, the earth was divided.
The word “divided” means “split”
Peleg” means “earthquake”
So 150 years after God confused their tongues, he caused a great earthquake and the world split.
Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 go together
And that how our continents come about and we have different colored people and different nationalities.
But the Messiah got to come thru Shem and Satan thought by getting them to inter-marry that he would prevent the promise of God.
But God confused their tongues, split the world and they drifted away from one another.
So now the Bible takes up the story of the Semetic people, descendants of Shem.
Abraham dad name was “Terah”
“Terah” means, “delay”
So God makes a three-fold promise to Abraham.

Genesis 12:2
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.”
· Make you a great Nation…………………………That is National
· I will bless you …………………………………….That is Personal
· Make your name great ……………………………That is International

Abraham left Ur of Chaldeans, but he took his father with him.
Now he wasn’t supposed to do that.
So Abraham took his family and kin to a little place called “Haran”
“Haran” means “fruitless”
He lived there for 7 years, cause he didn’t go to the place God told him to go to.
During those 7 years; God never appeared to Abraham, and he never spoke to him neither.
Because he had his father with him.
“Terah” means, “delay” and that’s what Abraham did; he delayed the promise of God for 7 years. Finally Abraham buried his father in Haran and he went on into Canaan.
“Canaan” means “Bow of the knee”
“Ur” means “Fire”
“Chaldeans” means “Destruction”
He calls us from fire and destruction to bow of the knee. He doesn’t want us to take delay with us. He doesn’t want us to live in fruitlessville. So as long as we are living in fruitlessville, our promises are not fulfilled.
Abraham postponed the promise of the Messiah by taking his father with him.
So Abraham went on into Shechem at Moreh near Bethel.
“Shechem” means “Strength”
“Moreh” means “Place of Instructions”
“Bethel” means “House of God”
The devil probably thought he had to do something.
The seed of a woman of the race of Shem and thru this man Abraham the seed that is going to bless the whole world.
So what does Satan do.?

GEN. 12
He caused a famine to come up and Abraham went down to Egypt because he didn’t have the faith to stay in Canaan.
And he lied and said his wife was his sister and Pharaoh thought she was a good looking woman and wanted her.
Satan move was that he wanted Pharaoh to be jealous of Abraham and kill him so he couldn’t father the Messiah.
Or maybe the Hametic Pharaoh would get Sarah pregnant and the Messiah can’t come through a Hametic man; He has to come through a Sematic man.
So God intervened and Pharaoh told Abraham to leave.
So Abraham went back to Canaan.

Gen.13

Now Lot his nephew is doing real good; he is a sheep herder.
The servants of Abraham and Lot began to fight.
Satan move was to get Lot and Abraham into a fight and hopefully Abraham would be killed so he couldn’t father the Messiah.
But Abraham is a peaceful man, and told Lot you go this way and I’ll go that way.
And Lot cast his tent toward Sodom and you remember the story.
He lost his wife, wealth, and his witness.
God appeared to Abraham again and said you are going to have a child; the Messiah is going to come, and you see all those stars and all that land; I’m going to give it to you and you are going to inhabit the land.
Abraham was looking for a city whose builder and maker was God. He wasn’t looking for a physical land.
So another famine came up and God appeared to Abraham and Sarah and told them that they were going to have a baby.

Gen. 18,19

Sarah was behind the curtain easdroping and she laughed.
Now Abraham laughed too.
He laughed a laugh of faith and joy.
But Sarah laugh was a laugh of doubt.
God told them to call him Isaac.
“Isaac” means “laughter”
Another famine came up on the land and Abraham didn’t have enough faith to stay in Canaan.

Gen. 21

He went down to King Abimelech and he lied again.
Satan moves was he hoped that King Abimelech would kill Abraham or Abimelech would get Sarah pregnant and then there would be no way Abraham could father the seed of the Messiah.
So God appears to Abimelech in a dream and tells him to restore the man his wife, for he is a prophet and he shall pray for thee.
So Abimelech gives Abraham sheep, oxen, menservants, and womenservants and gave Sarah back to Abraham and also 1,000 pieces of silver.
So Abraham prayed unto God and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants; and they bare children.
The Messiah has to be a Hebrew; it’s got to come through this man Abraham.
And finally Lot gets himself kidnapped and Abraham got his sword and went and rescued Lot from those fellows.
Now Satan move was he was hoping that Abraham would be killed in that battle trying to rescue Lot, so he couldn’t father the Messiah.
Now Abimelech wanted Sarah for his wife.
She was 90 years old.
I have never seen 90-year-old women turn me on; but she turned him on.
God gave them back their youth.
Abraham had Isaac when he was 100 years old.
When he was 120 years old, Sarah died; and he married another woman named Keturah and was having kids natural with no help or miracles involved.
Finally Isaac is born; been waiting for him for 25 years and when Isaac was about 20 years old and God told Abraham to take Isaac who you have been waiting for, for 25 years and I want you to kill him.
So Abraham says okie dokie.
He arose early in the morning, took 2 servants and traveled for 3 days.
In Abraham mind; Isaac was dead for 3 days. They got to the altar; Isaac said here is the wood, here is the altar, where is the lamb.
Abraham said God will provide the lamb. So Abraham tied up Isaac and was about to kill him when God called to Abraham; there was a ram over in the bushes and he took it and offered it in Isaac place.
How good of a prophet was Abraham.
Listen to the prophecy in Genesis 22:8
“ And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering…”
That hill…. 2,000 years later is where Jesus died.

Genesis 22:14
“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh; God will provide…”

God provided Jesus as the lamb.
Now I forgot to tell you a story about a little fellow named Ishmael.
Ishmael was Abraham son; who came from a Egyptian woman named Hagar.
Hagar can’t be the mother of the Messiah; she is Hametic and Christ as to come through Sematic Sarah not Hametic Hagar.
The Bible says that Ishmael persecuted Isaac.
Abraham was told by God to listen to your wife; you cast out that bondwoman and her son, they are not going to be heirs.
Ishmael gave Isaac a lot of problems; Keturah kids gave problems to Isaac also.
Satan move was he was hoping that they would fight over the inheritance of Abraham.
So now Isaac is given a promise that the Messiah is going to come through him.
Isaac marries Rebekah.
Now Abraham is not going to make any boo-boo’s.
Abraham says I want this boy to have a Sematic wife.
So he sends a helper after a bride who is Sematic and he goes and gets a girl by the name of Rebekah.
Whom she had not seen, she loved.
She agreed to come back and marry Isaac. (Gen. 25:23)
So now Isaac begins to have problems.
A famine came upon the land and Isaac goes down to Abimelech; like father, like son, and he lied to Abimelech.
So one day Abimelech was looking through a window and saw Isaac flirting with Rebekah.
So Abimelech kicked them out and Isaac and Rebekah went back to Canaan.
Now 2 nations are in Rebekah womb, and they are Jacob and Esau, and the older will serve the younger.

This is wonderful to read...thank you for posting...

The Lord's glory is so evident...Satan just cannot get the best of our God...even tho "good" men are weak...and their obedience is a bit flawed...God wins..."we" win!

Gen.27
The prophecy to Rebekah had been that the elder son (Esau) would serve the younger son (Jacob).
She believed that promise and loved Jacob. Isaac favored Esau, because Esau was a manly hunter who prepared his venison.
The favoritism of the parents naturally caused strife and jealousy between the two sons.
Isaac played favorite with his kids.
Isaac loved Esau and Rebekah loved Jacob.
Then we see that Esau sold his birth right for a bowl of food.
So Isaac calls his son Esau in and tells him to fix him some game because he is about to die.
Isaac lived 35 more years.
Esau went out to get it.
Then Rebekah gets Jacob to dress up like Esau.
However, Jacob was also to blame for his own sin. When his mother proposed the evil of deceiving his father, his only fear was that of getting caught and receiving a curse. His mother said that she would take the curse upon herself, as if she could do that.
Jacob went to his father dressed in Esau’s clothes so that he would smell like Esau.
He wore goat’s hair on his arms to feel like Esau.
He had goat’s meat taste like Esau’s venison (deer).
And when asked how he had gotten the deer so quickly, he lied and brought God’s name into his sin.
And Isaac asked his son, “How did you get this game so fast?”
He said; “God blessed me.”

And Isaac gave him the blessing, and when Isaac gave him the blessing; he took out the door and Esau came in and fixed the game for his dad, but Isaac says: “I’ve just ate.”
Esau found out he was deceived and he swore that he would kill Jacob when dad dies.
Rebekah would forever pay the cost of running ahead of God. She never saw her favorite son again.
She had made Jacob a coveter, a cheat, and a coward.

Gen. 28-30
So Jacob fled over into another land and God appeared to him that night and there were angels descending and ascending upon him and God told Jacob to go back.
So Jacob went running over to his mother brother house (his uncle)
His future father in-law Laban.
He didn’t know he would be at that time.
Jacob fell in love with Laban’s youngest daughter, Rachel.
He served 7 years labor for her, only to have Laban deceive him by giving the eldest daughter as his wife.
Jacob’s sin had returned upon him.
Now he is the one deceived.
It wasn’t bad enough that Laban gave him the wrong girl, but he gave him 2 of them.
He had to work another 7 years for the one he loved.
These women fought bitterly for Jacob’s attention.
Now Jacob is given the promise that the Messiah would come through him.
Jacob sees a girl in trouble, so he runs down and tries to help and almost gets killed immediately in a fight.
The devil move on the chessboard was, he tried to get the other shepherds to kill Jacob.
Then he got the 2 daughters to feud and fuse all the time; it makes you wonder if Satan tried to get Leah and Rachel to kill Jacob over jealousy.
Jacob was down there for 20 years.
Finally he grabbed his kids, 11 of them, and began to move out, and Laban came running after him; because he was going to kill him, but God appeared to him and told him not to speak cross to him.
So Laban asked Jacob why he stoled his god for?
Whoever got the god (Teraphim) when the father died, got the inheritance.
Jacob didn’t know his wife had stolen them, and he almost lost a good wife.
Jacob was coming back to Bethel,( The House of God) and he still had to meet Esau.

Gen. 32,33
Jacob went out onto an island and a angel appeared to him, and the angel began to wrestle with Jacob.
Jacob told the angel he wasn’t going to let go until he blessed him.
Then the angel asked Jacob his name
And the angel changed Jacob name to Israel.
As a result of that fight, he limped the rest of his life.
Now Esau comes up the next day and Jacob send Esau a bunch of animals and puts his favorite son Joseph in the back with his wife Rachel.
Esau came up; jumped off his camel and ran up and kissed Jacob.
God has touched Esau’s hard heart. The bitterness had past, the war never took place.
The Edomites who were Esau’s descendants were always bitter towards Jacob’s descendants.
Jacob stopped one-day journey short of returning to Bethel, where God told him to go.
And you know what he did; he built a house.
If you stop one day short where God wants you to be; He’s going to get your attention.
Disobedience results in chastisement, and it surely followed.
And his 16-year-old daughter went for a walk and a king’s son saw her and took her and violated (rape) her.
So Simeon and Levi says bring this fellow out so that we can kill him, and they said cool it,, this is the kings son.
There is nothing to worry about here.
He is willing to marry the girl, and we are willing to marry your sisters and daughters, and you can marry our sisters and daughters.
Simeon and Levi said you can’t do that, you’re not circumcised; so they said we’ll get circumcised.
When all the males were circumcised, and on the 3rd day, when they were so sore, that they couldn’t move.
Simeon and Levi went into that village and killed every male in that town.
And they said, that will teach them to treat our sister like a harlot.
And Jacob got scared because he was worried about the children, so he returns to Bethel, builds a altar and God blesses Jacob.

Gen. 37
Jacob had a favorite son, as did his father Isaac. His name was Joseph.
Jacob gave Joseph a special long sleeved coat (coat of many colors).
This showed that Joseph was to be the heir.
Satan sought to destroy Joseph.
Soon a caravan passed by that was, no doubt, sent by God to rescue Joseph.
It was made up of the descendants of Hagar (Ishmaelites) and Keturah (Midianites).
Judah, one of the better brothers, saw a chance to make a profit. He suggested that they sell Joseph rather then kill him.
So they sold Joseph and divided the 20 pieces of silver among themselves.
They took his coat, dipped it in goat’s blood, and returned it to Jacob.
Upon seeing the coat, Jacob assumed Joseph had been killed by a wild beast.
Jacob then mourned his son, and refused to be comforted.
He, who had deceived his father with goat’s hair, was suffering deception by his sons with goat’s blood.
Chickens do come home to roost.
Yet Joseph was alive and well as a servant in Potiphar’s house. Since Satan often used famines to harm God’s chosen seed, God sent Joseph ahead to prepare for the greatest famine. Joseph’s dreams would yet come true, and Satan couldn’t stop them.
Satan couldn’t beat the wisdom of Joseph, for he had the wisdom of God to help him. He had kept the lineage of the nation pure.

Gen. 48,49

Jacob dwelt in Egypt for 17 years. He called his sons to him to give them the blessing.
The birthright would be Joseph’s, but the Messiah would come from Judah.
Listen to what Jacob says to Judah in Gen. 49:8-10
“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”

The Messiah will come out of the tribe of Judah.
The sceptre (Kingship) will not depart from Judah to another tribe until He comes.
{David was the first King of Judah who ruled over Israel. His descendants ruled until Herod, became King, who was not of the tribe Judah. It was during Herod’s reign that Christ was born. This prophecy was made 1700 years before Christ.}

Satan had failed in his attempt to kill Jacob’s sons, and now God boldly foretells him which tribe He will use for the Messianic lineage.

Gen. 50

Joseph was made to swear to Jacob that he would bury him with Abraham and Isaac.
Joseph and his brethren did so.
Joseph was God’s man. Not one wicked deed is recorded in Scriptures concerning Joseph.
He is a type of Jesus Christ in over 40 different ways.
At the end of Genesis, Satan is fighting a losing battle. The Messiah’s race, nation, and tribe are known.
Satan has had little or no success in preventing the seed from coming.
Genesis began with life in a garden.
It ends with death in a coffin.
But the Lord is still triumphant in Genesis, for the lineage continues.

(Lev. 10:1,2)

The outer court of the tabernacle represents the world.
The inner court represents the kingdom of God.
Gold represents deity
Brass represents judgment.
Now this is the same Nadab and Abihu that has saw God, and did eat and drink with Him.
Anybody who saw God in the Old Testament was God the Son.
Not God the Father.
Nobody has seen God the Father.
“you shall not see my face and live”

If anybody denies the deity of Christ; show them this Scripture.
What was Nadab and Abihu sin?
1) Their offering was not commanded, it was will worship
2) It was presented at the wrong time; Priest offer up sacrifices at a appointed time.
3) It was a common fire, not taken from the altar that God ignited.
4) They were not commanded to offer incense, but to barely assist their father Aaron.
5) Incense are offered by one priest, they went together.

God brought a lot of judgment on men in the Old Testament because it was destroying His pattern.
His pattern for one priest, one mediator.
Nadab and Abihu died childless, and Aaron, Moses, Eleazar and Ithamar could not mourn over the death of Nadab and Abihu.
The priests were not allowed to touch the bodies.
Satan probably was trying to torment them and try to get them to cry. So maybe Satan could get Aaron and his 2 sons killed, if he could get them to mourn.
All the work of the priesthood fell upon Aaron, Eleazar and Ithamar.

(Numbers 11:1-6)

God was angry for their cry for meat.
And God said through Moses: “you want meat, I’ll give it to you until it comes out your nostrils.”
So the Lord sent quail in and it flew 3 feet off the ground.
Then as they ate the quail; the wrath of God smote the people with a plague and they died.
Satan killed a lot of people over begging for meat.

(Numbers 12)

Moses marries a black woman; she is a Cush, an Ethiopian woman.
His sister Miriam complained because he done this, and she got her brother Aaron to join her, so the Lord pulled all 3 in front of the Tabernacle.

(Numbers 12:6-8)

God did not hold Aaron responsible as much as He did Miriam.
You like white skin Miriam; I’ll give you white skin.
And He struck her with Leprosy, and she became white as snow.
Miriam was mad because he married a black woman, a Ethiopian woman.
What people complain about isn’t what they are mad about.

(Numbers 12:10-15)

God will not tolerate rebellion among his leaders nor the families of those who lead.
Mutiny was the attempt Satan used to keep them from entering the Promised Land.
God move on the chessboard was to go and straighten Miriam out.
Since God is sovereign, he can decide who does what.
God has appointed certain people to do certain things.

(Numbers 13, 14)

Moses was instructed by God to send 1 person from each tribe to spy out the Promised Land.
They went and spied it out for 40 days and when they returned, they said it was flowing with milk and honey, but they gave a false report; they said there were powerful people in there.
Joshua and Caleb said “we can take it; if God said we can do it, we can do it.”
But he other spies denied God power to aid them in their conquest.
The Israelites murmured and wept, and they tried to stone Joshua and Caleb for having encouraged them to go up and possess Canaan. But Moses would not have it, he pleaded for mercy, interceding on Israel’s behalf. Then God decreed that every man who murmured and provoked Him would die in the wilderness.
For each day the spies had been in the land of Canaan, the children of Israel must wander for one year.

Numbers 14:26-30

“And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.”

Numbers 14:31-34
“But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.”

The 10 evil spies were struck with a plague before all Israel and died. Hardly no one remembers these doubter’s names, but most people remember Joshua and Caleb, for they were men of faith.
Satan postponed the promise of Israel for 40 years.
Many of the people killed in the battle were from the tribe of Judah and those people weren’t going to be the Messiah.
So the devil thought he was pretty successful because he got this whole generation killed off.
All numbers have ideas.
1 is the number of Unity
2 is the number of Division
3 is the number of Complete
(There are 3 great divisions completing time - Past, Present, and Future)
(Thought, word, and deed, complete the sum of human capability)

4 is the number of the world
(4 great elements - land, air, fire, and water)
(4 regions - north, south, east, and west)
(4 divisions of the day - morning, noon, evening, and midnight)
(4 seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter)

5 is the number of Grace
6 is the number of Man
7 is the number of Spiritual Pefection
8 is the number of a New Era or Order
9 is the number of Finality orJudgment
10 is the number of The Perfection of Divine Order
(The 10 Commandments)
(The 10 Plagues)

11 is the number of Addition To It
12 is the number of Governmental Perfection
(12 Patriarchs)
(12 Sons of Israel)

13 is the number of Sin
20 is the number of Expectancy
40 is the number of probation
(40 days the spies were in Canaan)
(40 days Jesus was tempted of the Devil)
(40 days Moses was in the mount)
(40 years in the wilderness)

The Levites did not come under this curse
You had to be 20 to be a priest
The Levites didn’t spy out the land
Ithmamr and Eleazar were already priest, so we know they were over 20.
And Aaron died and didn’t get to go into the Promise Land.
The only ones that are going in are Joshua and Caleb, as far as the tribes outside Levites were concerned.
The rest of them died in the wilderness.
1.5 million people died in the wilderness.

(Numbers 16)

We see here that God is sovereign
Korah was a Levite, and all priests were Levites, but not all Levites were priests.
So Moses was grieved and went and stood before the Lord to see who he choose as a leader.
And Moses told Korah and his family to offer before the Lord to see who was holy.

(Numbers 16:23,27-30,31-33)

The Tabernacle says come over to my house
The priesthood says man needs a mediator
The sacrifices say without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.
The fish show that man needs to remember God.
Moses represents the Law
Mariam represents the prophets
Aaron represents the Aronic Priesthood.
There was only one person who could take the people into the Promise Land and that was Joshua.
Joshua is the Hebrew name of Jesus
Joshua means “salvation”
I don’t have time to tell you about all the attempts of Satan to wipe out the Jewish people before they went into the Promise Land.
The exists from Egypt demonstrates God faithfulness
The Law of Moses shows God holiness
God kept them under this Law for 1500 years and with shadows of what the Messiah would do.
He would be a priest
He would be a escape goat
He would be a Passover Lamb
He would be a true Sabbath Rest
Christ was coming and the Law and shadows show the work and the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(Numbers 17)

The people began to murmur again.
God told Moses and Aaron to run for their lives, as he would consume the whole nation. Moses and Aaron prayed fervently. Moses asked Aaron to run in and offer incense to make an atonement for the sins of the people.
A plague broke out among the people while Aaron ran to the altar.
When the incense was offered, the plague was stopped. However, 14,700 men, besides those who had died the day before, perished for their murmuring. The false accusation against Moses and Aaron had taken a great toll.
God had caused each tribe to lay a rod before the Lord. Then He chose Aaron’s rod to bud and bloom, blossom and bear almonds. The other rods remained only sticks. Aaron’s rod was kept as proof that Aaron was to be the priestly leader, and as a reminder of the fate of the rebels who had died.

(Numbers 21)

The serpents of the wilderness had not bothered the Israelites up to this time.
Deut. 8:15
“Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint.”

The cure for the snake bites was to look at the brazen serpent that God instructed Moses to place upon a pole.
When Moses erected the serpent, the people looked in faith to the serpent and were healed.
Satan had no way of knowing this brazen serpent would become a profitable teaching tool of the Messiah.
Christ said, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish.”
Satan had also provided a beautiful type of “The One” who would crush Satan’s head.

(Joshua 6)

Before he died, Moses ordained Joshua as his successor. Joshua had sent spies into the promised Land ahead of him, and was now ready to take over the land of Canaan.
And the lord told Joshua as they came to the Jordan River,
“This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. (Joshua 3:7)

Now they are at the head of the Jordan River and Moses is dead, and Joshua is going to lead them through the Jordan River.
God delivered them through the Red Sea and now God is delivering them through the Jordan River.
The rocks in the middle of the Jordan River represent the 12 tribes.
Then they went in and started to take cities and the walls of Jericho fell flat.
They rescued a harlot (or a inn keeper) Rahab and her family, for she had aided the spies as they spied out the city.
She was a Canaanite.
What would Satan do with her among the Israelites?
Perhaps he could get her to marry some one from Judah, through whom the Messiah was to come.
She did exactly that!
She married Salmon of Judah.
What would God do now?
Scripture says,

Hebrews 11:31
“By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.”

James uses her life as an example of an ‘active faith that saves.’
James 2:25
“Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?”

She became an example of God’s grace.
She is an example of gentile acceptance into the nation of God by faith.
She is an example of God’s ability to overrule Satan’s attempt to pervert the lineage of Christ.
She shows that the Messiah came from sinful flesh.
The grace of God is seen in Rahab, who trusted in the scarlet thread which hung from her window.
God would bring Christ through the lineage of this woman of faith, even though she was a Canaanite!
Rahab, by God’s grace, was not used by Satan to destroy the coming Messiah; but, in fact, she became a proselyte, and the ancestor of Him who came to bless all nations.

(Joshua 7)

Then they started to take Ai and they were defeated…why?
Because Achan stoled a Babylonian garment and a wedge of gold and silver from Jericho, Joshua lost 36 men when they went up against Ai

Joshua 7:11.12
“Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.”

Achan and all his family was stoned and burned with fire, along with all his possessions.
Achan is from the tribe of Judah.
So when they repented and sin was taken out of the camp, then they began to start taking cities.
God gave them a lot of victories, but over and over in those battles, many of the Jewish people were killed, because the devil wants the Jews dead, because now they are in the Promise Land and the devil doesn’t know when the Messiah is going to come. So Satan is afraid of the Jews being in the Promise Land.

(Joshua 11:21-23)
(Joshua 21)

God had promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob the land upon which their descendants were now living. He had kept the promise completely, for we read it in (Joshua 21:43-45)

The nation of Israel affirmed the promise to Abraham concerning the land of Canaan had been fulfilled. Satan had failed in preventing Israel from receiving the Promised Land. He should have given up, but he did not, for he would yet try to stop the Child of Promise from coming to bless all the nations of the earth.

(Joshua 23,24)
Joshua is very old and about to die when he called all the princes of Israel to him. He glorified God for giving them victory over their enemies. He encouraged them to observe all the laws of Moses. He instructed them not to marry the heathen living among them, nor even mention the names of the heathen gods. He warned them that if they did intermarry among the Canaanites, God would not drive out the nations from among them again.
