  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you constantly focus on the things that "end," like suffering, disease, injustice, evil and death, you will always think you are living in the "end times." But these things are only a reminder that we've still got work to do. God's elect are scattered throughout the earth. Who will go and share the message of the Gospel with them? Who will tell them that there is a better world to come? Who will tell them about Jesus and the glorious new age he has already inaugurated through his resurrection from the dead?

Just what are we looking for? The "end of the world?" No. Our hope is a "world without end" where suffering, disease, injustice, evil and death itself are no more and Jesus himself, the very embodiment of God's new creation, is present in our midst.

Those who waste their time developing elaborate "end times" scenarios are the very people whom Paul warned Timothy about.

As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themsevles to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. (1 Timothy 1:3-4)

The moderators of this forum do not allow correct views on the "end times" to be discussed here, so if you need more info, you might want to move to the Spirituality, Religion and Ethics forum.

Patmosman,
What are we looking for? We are looking for the signs the Bible tells us to look for. If we can point these things out to others that a the bible tells us will take place, and they are taking place! If it helps others to believe that the word of God is true, and it helps lead them to him. Then we are doing what God has called us to do.

It is prophecy being fullfilled, The prophecy was given so we would know that the time is near.

Should we take joy in the fact that this day is approaching? No not at all it will be a day of great distress, a day of pain and suffering like never before. The only one who has the power to rescue us from it is the Lord. We should be fully aware that this day is approaching. We should be warning others, so they can also be rescued by our creator.

The bible tells us to stay alert and keep watch. So we wont be caught unaware.

It doesn't tell us to tell others that this isn't going to happen, telling others that it wont happen or that it already has only serves to lead them to think that they do not need to be alert, or keep watch, allowing them to sleep, and be caught unaware.

quote== I believe Christ's return is upon us. There's way too much evil in the world...

I do not look at what evil is in the world as much as what God is doing in the world. It is a lot more edifying to know the time we live in, but watching God, rather then it is to watch the enemy of God.

HML, We can easily see from Numbers 32:13 and Hebrews 3:8-10 that God calls 40 years a generation. Matthew 1:17: from captivity in Babylon (586 BC) until Christ is 14 generations. 586 BC to Christ' birth is 586 years, divided by 14 is 41 years. This is important, as it will benefit us in studying the meaning of Jesus' words in Matthew 23:36; 24:34, Mark 13:30, and Luke 21:32.

I agree. I expect it at any time.

I would expect it when:

Matthew 24:23 onwards - At that time if anyone says to you, ' Look here is the Christ!' or 'There he is!, do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform and miracles to deceive even the elect - if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time...Immediately after the distress of those days, :The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time, the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory...Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."

I believe we are near the end. The Church is apethetic and is full of false doctrines and teaching. I think we all need to always look inward and concentrate on being a faithful servant, knowing that our Master coming, at a time we know not. So we are to occupy until Jesus calls us up and to keep in mind that He could do that at any time and make sure we are prepared like the 5 wise virgins. There is nothing left to be fulfilled before the rapture of the church. Our redemption draws nigh.
