The edges of reason...?

I found this article interesting, in that it sums up fairly neatly, if briefly, what I sometimes think but don’t manage to express so clearly. Personally, I don’t have any ‘beef’ with science, and to put it succinctly I tend to find interpretations of the bible that approach it from the context of the original audience the most convincing, but I also find the idea that taking empiricism, strictly defined, out of the lab and using that as an approach to understanding life pretty baffling. That doesn’t seem rational to me, to me as a way of thinking it seems like a form of indoctrination through education. Interested to hear what other people think.

It is indoctrination and training tbh , your hours in school slowly incrase over time to 8h /day to prepare you mentally for next 25 years of your production time as worker .

I think the momentum of the old scientism is starting to slow down, and people are starting to chafe against it's rigid sharp edges. Whatever scientistism is it is not the way we live our lives, nor has it been for the entirety of our history except one tiny nugget of the populace in one tiny nugget of history who pull it out of the drawer with their watch and wallet when they head off to work. Only to return it to that drawer when they come home for the sake of wife and family.

I think people are starting to wake up to the fact that life has more questions than scientism can answer. I think they are also becoming dissatisfied with the authoritarian "shut up and believe" responses to those questions. A lot of these trends in the articles like whole foods are starting to gain momentum. People are realizing science didn't protect us. They sold us products that kill us, while quoting science that says it's safe and lining their pockets in the process. Faith in scientism to protect the individual is lost yearly. One only needs to look at the yearly struggle between margarine and butter to be better at not killing us to see even simple things are not known. I don't think it will be long before we start realizing once again that asking the question "where did we come from" is best directed at those who can answer it without smug literalism.
