Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
MARK 1:35 NKJV
Sometimes we just have to get away. When the hustle and hassle of everyday life seems to push in on our time and crowd our minds with anxiety and worry, we should take sometime to get away. When I think about going to a solitary place, I think about being in the woods, walking in an open field, or possibly sitting next to a creek as the water flows by. I remember when I lived in a large city and I would plan small trips to the country to get away. As I look back on those days I recall being alone in the country with all my anxiety still with me. I just thought things were different. Later when I moved to the country and my self-centered life style progressed I found no relief from my anxiety and depression by just being in a solitary place. As I look back on my life and read this Scripture about Jesus I come to the conclusion that a solitary place may mean a place in my heart where only God and I reside. A room where the door is always open, but many times I walk by in a hurry headed somewhere else. As I get older I am learning that when I spend some time alone with God, my day produces more serenity, more compassion, more tolerance, more understanding. If I am to be about the Fathers business, I must phone home regularly. God does for me what I could not do for myself JRE
And He said to them, Why do you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about my Fathers business? LUKE 2:49 NKJV
Sometimes we had to search fearlessly, but He was there. He was as much a fact as we were. We found the Great Reality deep down within us.
